Mr. E Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 I'm upgrading my guitar, a special 2, and its something i've been wanting to do since 2 years ago and I think now is the time. I'm going to order a pickup maybe this week, but i'm still undecided. I have this three options: 1. Rockfield Pickup: about 50 bucks plus tax 2. GFS Vintage '59: about 48 bucks (shipping included)* 3. GFS Alnico Fat Pat: about 42 bucks (shipping included)* I would add a coil split switch for the Rockfield or the Vintage '59. If I go for the Fat Pat, i'm going to try to squeeze to get alittle more options like installing a 4 way rotary switch for series/north split/south split/parallel wiring. Should I go for the Rockfield pickup or the Vintage '59? it's only about $10 of a difference. Or should I go for the Fat Pat, which would be cheaper and alittle more options? *I'm shipping to Mexico

Thanks

Do you think i could use this for something more than blues? Are this pickups versatile?

If you want a blues sound rather than an out and out metal sound then the PAF is the one to get out of the three models. having said that, these pickups can really rock when you turn the gain up. It's great for classic rock sounds such as Zeppelin, etc.
