G_man Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Hello, New here on the site. Just purchased an Epiphone guitar with the intent of learning to play as a mid-life hobby. The number on it is F5080119. I know this translates as: Fine Guitars (Korea) August 1995 0119 I'm hoping someone can shed some more light on this as to what kind of guitar I have. It is: Black contoured solid body with creme pick guard Dot inlays No binding Dual humbuckers (Alnico??) Selector switch Vol and tone for each pickup Gibson shaped Says "Gibson" just above the nut "Epiphone" at the top It has the spec's of a "100", but I wanted some more input/opinions. Thanks in advance.
EpiEric Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Is the neck a bolt (attached with a metal plate and screws) or is it a set neck (neck glued into the body)? If it's a bolt, that sounds like a Les Paul 100 to me...
Steven Lister Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Welcome to the forum G_man! A photo would help us correctly identify your Epi. With Epiphone the "F" letter indicates a Fujigen - Japan unit (as does the "Gibson" TRC) which could make it an Elite model. However, the dot inlays and no binding are inconsistent w/Elite, but as discussed here recently, some bindings are there just very hard to detect even by the experts. (RotcanX where are you?) Is there an "Epiphone Elite" burst decal on the back of the neck just below the headstock? Hit every BLUE NOTE baaaby..., I'm going to play on:-"
SlagJones Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 my guess is bolt neck=100 set neck=Studio pictures would solve the matter pretty easily tho
G_man Posted October 6, 2008 Author Posted October 6, 2008 It is a bolt on neck (Chrome plate, screws, "made by hand in Korea for Epiphone". OK, it's a Les Paul 100. I settle for that. Thanks guys. ps I still might post a picture later.
