AS90 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 This should occupy me while my Elitist Sherry is getting fixed...
Just Strum Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 AS90, nice Gibson. If it doesn't occupy you until the Sherry is fixed, I would suggest you get psychiatric counseling or more guitar money because you are in a world of hurt.

TWANG Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Now, what you want to do first is replace those inlays with genuine dinosaur bone. NOT the petrified kind. I don't know how many times I have to say that!! Stupid newbies. Second, get rid of those last four frets, they are too tiny and nobody uses them. Also; Send it to a pro and get a picture of your mother in law on the upper bout. Don't forget to have a clear coat put over it, as she might escape unexpectedly. Sand off most of the finish on the back, so you can write your set list there. Very handy! Get a dingle ball to hang off the top cutaway. A fuzzy one. No 'dice' though, they're passe. By the way, I've got a good source for zircon encrusted screws if you want it. Shiny stuff attracts girls, don't forget. Paint the tuner buttons different colors matching your favorite brand of jelly bean. This is way cool with the preschoolers and you have to market yourself properly or there's just not point in playing guitar at all. So you find a little drool on them now and then. Grow up! Four knobs is three too many, find yourself a junked oven, and steal the knob that goes to 550. 11 my butt! 550!!!! Several holes drilled through the body for weight reduction give it that aerospace look. Stickers are just cosmetic fixes so be sure to strike it several times with a screwdriver before applying your TMNT decals.. you want authenticity, it's not enough to just be hip. (Don't cover the aerospace holes with stickers.. the extra air trapped beneath then reduces the amount of obfuscation you achieve when you slaplify the inductives.) And that sounds terrible! When you finish all of this, your Elitist model will probably be done as well, and you'll really really appreciate having it back. Good luck, and don't forget to shampoo your pickups. TWANG
mrjones200x Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Now i know where im going wrong with my guitars. Polish and love doesnt work. Gonna go clean it with 80 grit sand paper now and a nice smear of petrol for a nice smell. Might then clean of the petrol with a match the put it out with an axe!! ](*,)/ Think that'll help Cheers for the advice twang. lol

cymbaline87 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Congrats!! Love the feeling of having a new guitar ....and knowing your wallet is suddenly empty I really dig those P90s!
JefferySmith Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 This should occupy me while my Elitist Sherry is getting fixed... Got that SG bug?
Bender 4 Life Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I always thought soaking with acetone, followed by an "enthusiastic" sandblasting was sufficient to remove those pesky polishing swirls. Nice guitar ..........HNGD!!!!
AS90 Posted October 7, 2008 Author Posted October 7, 2008 Nice one as90 did you buy it local ? No, I got it from a guy in Ireland, it failed to sell on ebay so I made him an offer and he accepted, it was a steal!
epinder Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Nice looking, congrats. Can I ask you a couple of questions. It's funny that you posted this, as I just noticed a Gibson SG Special for sale locally on CL. It is the exact same guitar as yours but it is wine red and a lefty. I've never really thought about an SG until I saw the one advertised. How does yours sound say comparing it to an LP?? The price that the seller is asking is $600. Do you think this is a fair price or do you think I should offer less? I realize your in England, but at least I'd have a ballpark idea. I don't mean to pry and ask what you paid (I know that's personal) just want to have an idea before I view the guitar. Thank you in advance.
epinder Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 No need to respond. I just noticed that MF has a scratch/dent for $630 so it's obvious that $600 ain't no frickin deal.

The special is a totally different guitar to the classic, the classic has P90s, neck binding, mother of pearl headstock inlay and a nice gloss nitro finish. Its basically the same quality as a Standard, the Special is a great guitar, just slightly lower down the food chain.
