MWGuitarman Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Took out the stock pups, just needed something a little hotter. Sounds great and looks nice.
acewarslave Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 whats the difference in price between the elitist and just a standard eppi in usa?
Curtoons Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 If you can FIND an Elitist they're running about $1200 US right now. The Standard models are running about half that.
Bender 4 Life Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 If that sounds as good as it looks.........great job!
ef_in_fla Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 That's a good look, and one of the few cases where I like the pickguard staying on.
MWGuitarman Posted October 8, 2008 Author Posted October 8, 2008 Nice look. What PUs did you pick? I know some of you might throw-up when I tell you, but they are DragonFire pickups. Very cheap. I tried a number of pickups on my epi standard I had before this. I had the following configurations...Gibson 490r/498t, Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB/ SH2-N, & DragonFires. I love hard rock and classic rock. I found the ceramic magnets in the Dragonfire's to produce the best sound. They're hot enough to play Metallica and I can roll the tone a little for some Guns N Roses, Sabbath, Cream, Pearl Jam, foghat, etc. The bridge is bright enough that it covers SRV very well when slightly overdriven. I also love Jimmy Page's tone and the bridge pickup is the closest thing to his sound I have been able to get, running through my Peavey ValveKing Half Stack. I feel a little uncomfortable about having such cheap pickups in my guitar, but at the end of the day, it's about the tone.
Ricochet Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Kewl...if it works for you, that's all that matters.
