antwhi2001 Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Here's a dliemma I hope no-one else has at the moment. I needed £1000 / $2000 to put my car back on the road. Most of my savings actually went into buying the car, so some gear has to go. I had to decide which guitars to sell. My stable is now as described in my signature; I just sold the modified Epi BB in my avatar and got lucky on the Bay, got £500 for it and the buyer is happy. Now I need another £500....so what would you sell next?? The BB went because the V is my first-choice humbucker guitar, and I wouldn't have got quite as much if I sold the Tele custom.
Ricochet Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 I can't answer that for you... But If I were you I'd keep my collection as tonally and visually diverse as possible. Edit: Hmm..I see you allready have a tonally and visually diverse collection.... Epi Les Paul Special II Gibson Flying V tobacco 'burst with maestro and burstbucker pros Gibson Les Paul faded doublecut with P90s Fender Tele standard sunburst with Bigsby Fender Tele custom FMT with 3x humbuckers and coil tap Squier Japanese Strat with 2x Kinman noiseless and 1x Kent Armstrong humbucker Ovation shallow bowl acoustic Marshall TSL122 100w I'd say loose the Epi and a Tele... You don't touch the Gibsons. You want to hang on to the amp and the acoustic. So that leaves The Epi, 2 teles and a Squier Strat. The Epi is easy to replace. You'll need a strat(or do you?), so that leaves a tele... Good luck whatever you decide!

antwhi2001 Posted October 8, 2008 Author Posted October 8, 2008 I was surprised how light and well-balanced a V is. Also good access to the high frets for soloing. Of my collection, it's the one I'd get most for...I would guess it would probably sell around £785 with hard case. http://s76.photobucket.com/albums/j24/antwhi2001/guitars%20over%20the%20years/?action=view¤t=100_0308.jpg
stan 58 Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Hang on to the V!! Great guitars. And here's one for Mr. Smith.

Suho Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 I empathize. I am in a similar predicament. Due to some recent expenses and wedding gifts, I have already sold my Gibson smartwood LP, my Conklin 7 string bass, my USA ATK Ibanez 5 string bass, and an Epi LP Junior. I still really need to sell more, but I am not sure what should go. I have a Japanese strat w/ American pups that definitely stays, and my Epi Sheraton II stays. That leaves a Jay Turser strat copy that isn't worth much but is beautiful as all hell and has rosewood pickguard, knobs, pickup covers, and tremolo cover (over a beautiful tobacco-ish natural stained guitar); my Epi Elitist LP (twisted sister model, w/ the burstbuckers etc, and autographed by Jay Jay French); my 1984 black Greco LP (John Sykes Model) custom copy, with the Dry pickups; and one of my two remaining Ibanez ATK 4 string basses (one is my main bass, but the other is just soooooo pretty with the natural ash through amber finish, and these are both from the original Korean batches in the mid-90's). There is no way my Tom Anderson Crowdster Plus is going anywhere, nor do I see my Emperor Regent leaving me, although the longer I have the Anderson the less I play anything else acoustically. Sorry to hijack the thread. I figure I only need one strat so the Turser will eventually go, one ATK will go, and trying to decide on getting rid of an LP is brutal. I am also trying to sell some extra cabinets and pedals, but they aren't moving very fast.
