Treemind Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 I traded a couple of condenser mics for this amazing guitar. I was always a Telecaster guy... until i played this baby! Now i have a Gibson SG as my number one, and this as my backup. No more fenders in my house. This is a rare guitar, I am guessing made in the 90s. It plays better then the new gibson models, and is much more heavy. Anyone have more info on these models? There is NOTHING on the web about them. I have no idea really the details other then it plays fantastic. Sorry about the pic being sideways... kinda makes it look upsidedown.
EpiEric Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 All I know is that's an awesome guitar and a great trade! I would buy one TODAY if Epiphone reissued them. Was it made in Korea? I'd assume so. If it has a printed on serial number, or serial number decal still intact, you can enter the serial at the Guitar Dater project to get a little more info.
Treemind Posted October 10, 2008 Author Posted October 10, 2008 the serial number is on the back of the headstock... were is this guitar dater project? Also it was in fact made in Korea. I love it... totally rare.
Treemind Posted October 10, 2008 Author Posted October 10, 2008 cool the info came back as such: Guitar Info: Your guitar was made at the Samick Plant, Korea June 1995 Production Number: 4735 thanks EpiEric for that info!
TWANG Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 I used to know a guy whose dad had one of those, gibby, under his bed for twenty years. nice guitar.. they should reissue that model.. thier p90s are getting good responses.. set neck.. nice cutaway.. cool shape... god what's not to like! TWANG
Growler Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Another great little Epi rocking machine for sure! P90's FTW!
FrankS1281734010 Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Mine was made at the Samick factory (wherever that is) in 98. That's about all I know. I've seen ones in red, black, and yellow. It's not as heavy as the Gibson one I played about a year back, but it sounds awesome nonetheless. The only negative thing I'd have to say about them is their crappy tuners, but that's an easy replacement.
wiltshire willy Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 guys... Got one of these in cherry from 99 made in korea and im thinking of selling it.what do you guys recon its worth ?its in real good condition ,comes with a flight case and has had the tuners changed to more vintage vibed kluson tulips.the only downside is im in Australia so it will only be for Aussies i guess, anyway when i reach a price ill post here first cheers W W
Ricochet Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Nice guitar...Funny(as in weird), I don't usually care for this colour but on this model guitar it just looks right...
captmidnight Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 I have never been an SG fan...they looks nice and easy upper fret playablity, but just don't like the way they hang on me...BUT the DC model LP I really like! If I ever get a chance that will be my next guitar...and Ric you are right ..terrible color that TV Yellow but on that guitar it just seems right...that red sure is purty too tho. Capt
