yamatsuka Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Maybe a stupid question, but is tuning down the guitar from `standard` tuning to GGDGBD or C-F-Bb-Eb-G-C bad for a PEpi Les Paul? And which strings are best for it? The current ones (Ernie Ball power Slinky) or maybe different ones?
lostindesert Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Tuning down can't harm a guitar, tuning it with light strings could be a pain in the a**. Try a set of .011s, they stay in tune better then light strings when tuning down. Peter
yamatsuka Posted October 10, 2008 Author Posted October 10, 2008 So, Ernie Ball Power Slinky should do fine? And how about after "de-tuning"going back to Standard?
lostindesert Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 They should do fine when tuning down, but if you like to bend the strings they can go out of tune easier because of the lower string tension. In the past i played some Rolling Stones numbers and tuned down to ggdgbd with no problems. I used .010-.042 strings then, and now. Btw most electric guitars can handle different tunings better then acoustic guitars. Groeten, Peter
yamatsuka Posted October 10, 2008 Author Posted October 10, 2008 Ok, dank je. Was even bang dat het slecht voor de hals van de gitaar zou zijn.
yamatsuka Posted October 10, 2008 Author Posted October 10, 2008 Just thanked him and said i was afraid it'd be damgaing for the neck to alter tunings.
lostindesert Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Say what? Stan. Not nation wide but global, Stan lol. Just two dutchies. Peter
