vomer Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 I'm considering a Varitone, but having difficulty finding out more about them. I've found Torres' kit, but does anyone have any further info? Are the parts in a 345 available as spares? Any help appreciated, thanks.
Parabar Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 I got one of these for a 345 clone I have --- and I like it a lot. Good customer service --- very helpful guy to deal with as well.
Bender 4 Life Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 I got one of these for a 345 clone I have --- and I like it a lot. Good customer service --- very helpful guy to deal with as well. How good a job does it do at reducing the low response by stages, to sound more and more "single coilish" as you twist the knob? In your honest opinion....how well would one work on a Sheraton II ?
Purple_String Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 I'm curious about the Vari-Tone too! Will be getting a Sheraton very shortly. The vary-tone on Lucille is just cool! But Sheraton looks better to me. If a vary-tone setup can be installed on a Sheraton, that really rock! So far, I too only found Terres kit. Wondering if there are other options. http://www.torresengineering.com/delvarkit.html
twiggy Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 hey lads, of course there are other options... to be honest I did quite a research on it and that's the result: if you're in US, try this first : Time Electronics if you're in , to be honnest anywhere, try those: Guitar mods or has sounds and to read about it more try this : alexplorer there was one more somewhere, but can't find at the moment. If I will... it will reach you. So far enjoy these and pls post pictures if it will go somewhere ;) peace, love and oasis
Parabar Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Varitone on a Sheraton would be a for sure thumbs up! My own assessment is that they don't sound exACTly like single coils, but they do get in to a much "thinner," brighter tonal range that is very useful in a similar way. The red link in my initial post goes to a website for another supplier, which is the one I can personally recommend.
