brokenman Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Hi folks - I'm new to this forum, and glad to be here. My new Sheraton has far surpassed my expectations for it. It just plays and sounds great, and it's frankly got me looking at and considering other Epiphones, rather than just sighing about the cost of Gibsons...Oh well, I digress. To get to my question: on the Sheraton, as with other hollow-bodies or semi's, the strap button being behind the neck causes the guitar to hang out from the body when standing up playing, and this is annoying to me. The only thing I can do is to hold the guitar more at an angle ; body down, neck up, which actually is not at all uncomfortable, but I have to remember to keep it in this position to keep the guitar's body flush against my body. Anybody understand what I am talking about? Solutions? Suggestions? Thanks ...John
dubstar Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 adjust your strap so it is higher or lower on your body then it is now...my casino doesn't do this, check photos of the beatles etc...lots of archtops up high...might work for you...
charlie brown Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Yeah, short of moving the strap button (and drilling another hole) to the upper horn, there's not much more you can do, that you haven't done, already...or that Dubstar didn't mention...seems to me. I've made the adjustment, with no problem really, to just standing a bit differently, and having the guitar a bit higher, than I might my Les Paul, or Strat. No big deal, really. CB
lpdeluxe Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Same. The identical condition afflicts my Sheraton II and my recently purchased ES-335. I hate to drill a hole, but then most of the time I play sitting. As well-designed as the semi-acoustic style is, I'm surprised that this problem got past the Gibson designers. But, no, they not only inflicted it on the 335 and variations, they installed it on SGs and Thunderbirds and many other models that had done them no harm.
