epilover9568 Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 This will probably be deleted soon' date=' but what do you think of the Ibanez AF95: [img']http://www.dv247.com/assets/products/50246_p.jpg[/img] The Ibanez artcores are very nice.... It used to be that the distance from high E to low E was about 1/8" less than Epi/Gibson... And that drove me nuts having to adjust to a different string distribution... That was the only thing that prevented me from having one... But they have changed that... The Artcores now have a string spread the same as the Epis/Gibsons.. And now, I would consider buying one... I actually prefer the AS93 and AS73 to the Chinese Epi Dot... I think they have better pickups and look better than the dots... And they cost about the same...
JefferySmith Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 I got flamed last time I said something about the Artcore (a different model than the one above), but here goes anyway. From a distance, they are pretty, but up close, they are no match for an Epiphone. The action was okay on mine (but I don't ever use a Bigsby, so that wasn't a plus). The electronics were acceptable as well. It just didn't feel as good to me as an Epi. Perhaps there is some bias that I don't recognize. I think my disappointment was that the American guitar mags acted like it was a $400 guitar that was more like a $2,000 guitar. My expectations were just too high. I looked very hard for some sign of wood grain under the red poly, but saw none. It's a good guitar in light of the cost. I was tempted to pull the trigger on a John Scofield 335, but didn't because I still had that bad taste in my mouth. All right SGLudwig, flame my ***.
TheX Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 I like the Artcore guitars, but they are in the same basic league as the Epi's. Nothing special compared to many others.
tflanster Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 For the money Artcores are great values. I've owned 4 of them. Only have one now - an AS73 that I really like. I've owned an AF75, AW200, AEG10, along with my LP Classic and Dot Deluxe. I got rid of all but the LP and the AS only because I'm looking for a few bucks to upgrade to something better. I'm even thinking about an acoustic/electric just for a different sound. I do have a Yamaha acoustic as well as the LP and AS so I'm thinking a nice non-dreadnaught size A/E will fill the bill. Anyway, the Artcores are a good series at great prices IMO
