HNGD...The Riviera P-93 LE has arrived!!

Wow...nice guitar! And, it came very quickly...basically "over the weekened!"

I'm stunned! Initial impressions are good! Will add more, and a photo...later.

Made in China. Weight seems to indicate a center block, but I can't really tell

if that's because of the added weight of the Bigsby, or if there really IS a center

block. Will try to explore that, a bit more, as well...if I can fine a mirror small

enough to look inside? All things working as they should, neck is a kind of

"beefy" '60's neck, for lack of a better explanation. Fatter than my Casino,

but not as heafty as my (Gibson) "Lucille." So, it's a nice compromise, that

way. Fit and finish seem great! Poly finish is light (NOT heavy handed,

"encased in plastic" in feeling, or look, at all). Intonation seems "right on,"

and it tuned up to concert pitch quite easily. Machines (Gold "e" kluson clones)

are nice and smooth, and though not "Grovers," seem just fine! Again, these

are very early impressions, as I just got it, literally...30 minutes ago. So, I'll

write more, later...after some playing time, and "tweaking" (to my tastes), etc.

But, for $499...It seems...Unbelievable!! Good show, Epi!!

I guess??? Still in shock, as to how fast it arrived...I wasn't even looking for it, until maybe Thursday (possibly, Wednesday at the earliest!)

There is an "overall" photo, via the link...'cause I can't seem to get the actual photo onto the thread, for some reason?? I'm so useless when it comes to posting photos (or anything else, that involves computers, for that matter!) LOL! The darker areas on the body are only reflections, where the white sheet I used to try to get some more color definition into the dark "wine" colored body, didn't quite cover the area. The line across the pickguard is just where the plastic covering tore off...I haven't removed it all, YET. But, you'll get an idea, what it looks like, anyway. More to come, later...

OK...added some more photos, to the initial posting.

Thanks, All...it's looks/feels like a "Great" purchase (especially at that price), at this point...but as always, "time will tell!"

Will keep you posted, as I hope others, who made the same purchase, will also...

Cheers, ;>)

Edit: Another thing, this guitar's upper bout shaping (horns) seems to be closer, to the originals...

as much as I can remember, that is. Not too wide-round, but more the classic "Epi" horn profile.

CB,

What is the normal price on this guitar. When I Google "Riviera P-93 LE" the first thing that pops up is this thread (you're #1). If I Google Epiphone Riviera P-93 LE I get Sweetwater but the page is a Riviera P94. Is the Riviera P-93 LE no longer being made? It seems odd that it doesn't pop up in a Google search.

Thanks for the pics CB...that thing is GORGEOUS! Wow...I can't wait to get mine.

What do you think of the pups? Volume/tone controls...are they responsive? And is it hollow' date=' or semi-hollow?

[/quote']

The pickups seem strong, if a bit "Dark," in character. But, to be honest, I haven't really had a chance to

"Crank it," so...I can't say for sure. But, they are not "muddy"...just a different character (as would be

expected) from "Strat" single coils, or Humbuckers! The one thing I did notice, right away, is that it must

be fairly well "sheilded" because the "Hum" is way lower (quieter), than my Casino or my Gibby LP Faded Double Cut,

with P-90's. Used my little Marshall AVT-20, and put in some "Grit" and even then, the hum was minimal,

compared to the others. So...I'm liking THAT, a LOT!

It IS "Semi-hollow" bodied...as I had suspected, inspite of the initial description on Musician's Friend. There

is a visible center (maple?) block. Weight is good...not too heavy, but "substantial" in feel. I don't want to

sound too "Gushing" here...but, for that price, I'm quite astounded, really. Maybe, I'm easily pleased? LOL!

But, I don't think so... Those of you, who have ordered them, I think will be quite pleased. I'm sure some will

want to "Mod" their's to their specific needs/tastes, but right out of the box (mine, anyway) it's pretty amazing.

Cheers,

CB

That is beautiful CB, congratulations!

You simply couldn't buy that for that money in Britain. I knew the prices were cheaper in the US of A but if I could get one of them for £250 (ish) over here.... I can dream.......:-({|=
