Jeff' date=' i did an online order and it has been 24 hrs. called mf to get status and was told it was in system to prep for delivery. should be set to deliver tomorrow. i guess, i should have picked a faster shipping option. I went with the free 2-5 day. But, with the great feedback on the threads, i am happy i got it. i can wait for the hngd!!!! I plan to use the gc in store coupon to get a case and strap, strap locks, etc. :) [/quote']

I just got the tracking information. It is supposed to arrive tomorrow! Wish me luck!

Mine was waiting for me when I got home this afternoon. We're getting acquainted right now.

Cool! That's always a nice surprise, after work, huh? Let us know what you think...?

I love Epi's. Congrats on the 3p90 Riv. I have fat hands so I struggle with the regular Riv (which I own) and the Casino. How would you compare the neck? Bigger...More room?

Thanks and you got a pretty one! :-/

Haven't had much of a chance to try her out yet. Gave her the once over, tuned her up, checked the intonation and noodled around unplugged for awhile. Took my son to his football game and have been gone a few hours. Now my wife is lurking about. Did I fail to mention that this was an unauthorized purchase? Probably will have to wait until tomorrow to try her with an amp.

So far, I look the looks of her. Haven't found any flaws that stand out yet. The red finish looks nice. I like the feel of the neck.....kind of chunky, almost like a 50's type neck. Not a big fan of gold hardware in general but I'll learn to live with it. Not quite sure what to make of the Bigsby? Have never had one before. Makes some cool warbly sounds. Not looking forward to changing the strings....heard it will be challenging. Definitely interested in tapping into the knowledgable forum members for the least troublesome method of getting it done. Will post more tomorrow.

Thanks, Mark... The neck, is (as I've mentioned previously)..to me, a kind of "fatter '60's" style...

In other words, not a fat as the "fat neck 335," or the regular Epi "Dot," but fatter than my Korean

Riviera (w/mini's), and my '66 Casino (which is really nice, and thin too), or my "USA" Sheraton. And

yet, not as beefy as my Gibson "Lucille," which has (probably) the beefiest guitar neck that I own.

But, it's not uncomfortable, at all...just "beefier" than the others. If you're "struggling" with the

Casino and regular Riviera necks, though..it might be a bit "fatter" than you'd be comfortable with??

Not sure... They may vary, a bit, from guitar to guitar, too. But, I'm quite pleased, overall! And those

P-90's....MAN, what a great sound!

Well, I'm sure you're going to enjoy it! Changing strings isn't bad...as long as you do it one at a time, and

from the outsides to the center. The Bigsby is for that exact vibrato/warble purpose...and NOT for "Dive Bombing!"

More the "Rock A Billy" type vibrato. You'll get the hang of it, I'm sure.

can you wedge a humbucker sized p90 in these dog ear slots? i have a few sitting around and that would be something... wait, these are probably regular sized p90s, right? :D

in that case, sizes equal, would a regular p90 fit in a dog eared slot?

The only difference is the case itself, and the mounting method. Generally, soapbar cases mount thru the pup into the bottom of the guitar. No bottom to speak of in an archtop, so dogear cases (which mount to the top) are used.

EDIT: and, yes, these are full-sized, so the humbucker case won't work.

Find or make yourself a wedge shaped piece of foam..about 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the ball end of the string put a 45% bend in it...hook the ball on the pin and then place the wedge under the bar and string to hold the ball on the pin of the Bigsby. Then just string it up as usual.

Works like a charm, no problem of the string popping off while you're stringing it up.

NO this isn't my idea...been around for a while and I forget who told me about it here on the forum. Sure did help tho!

I like it. Typical Epiphone build quality...lack of attention to detail in some areas that isn't a big issue, but is noticable. The playability is excellent as well as the tone.

I replaced the strings and set it up to my preference, and think it makes a great addition...overall I'm quite happy with it.

I'm sure most of you experienced players will agree that 'the guitar dictates what you play on it'. For instance' date=' when I got the P-93 last evening, once I tuned it up I played 'The Thrill Is Gone' (no backward irony intended) for about 30 minutes. I hardly ever play that song anymore but it just 'seemed right' for the P-93. This is definitely a major blues machine. (BTW, those P-90s sounded killer on that tune).

Uneducated players give me strange looks when I tell them 'the guitar tells me what to play' but I know most of you guys know exactly what I'm talking about. [/quote']

Semi's (P-90's or Humbuckers) love "The Blues!" No doubt about it. It's ironic, that you mentioned B.B.'s "The

Thrill Is Gone," as I sat down and played along with that song, and the rest of his "Why I Sing The Blues" CD,

with this guitar, the same night I got it, too. Amazing, truly. Even though "Lucille" has always been humbucker equipped, the P-90's on this Riviera sounded great, as well. Can't wait to "crank it," through a nice tube amp,

like my little "Blues Jr.," or the Hot Rod Deluxe! Been invited to a friends gig, to "sit in," Friday night, so...maybe

I'll take the Riviera, and use his HR Deluxe or Blues Junior...whichever one, is there? We'll see...

Congrats Charlie. It figures, I haven't been on in quite awhile and I come for a visit and you have another new family member. Excellent choice I must say. As usual, I've thoroughly enjoyed reading your reviews. If I was in the market, this would be the one, although I seem to be in a serious Strat phase at the moment !

I'd join everyone else and tell you to enjoy but you seem to be doing just fine bro..........

Peace,

John

Well....HELLO, Stranger! You're right...it's been awhile! Hope all is well. As you can tell, we're all "GASSING"

for various new (or new to us) "Axe's!" Good to see your name and Avatar, on here again, John. And..."Strat

phases" are always good!

Anyway, hope to see you on here, more...if you have the time/inclination. Be well, bro!

I've said it before. It's uncanny the difference between P-90s in a solid state amp vs. a tube amp. P-90s and tube amps are a match truly made in Heaven. To me, it's hard to find a better sound than that.
