I have a few questions

I'm about to finish upgrading (or fixing) my lp junior with hb and I have some questions:

1. What will be different from a 8.8k pickup and a 12.6k pickup? (Besides the output)

How would they sound? What are pros and cons?

2. Do I have to use any special wire for the guitar? I have some wire I bought at an electronics store awhile back, can I use it?

3. How good are Wilkinson tuners?

Thanks

i think you will have a bit more sustain and to me a better one as i think you will have a little more attack with those pups.

guitar fetish do cheap wire if you want to wait and be sure. it's fairly thin and cheap also you get alot of it.

wilkinson stuff is good. i am a fan. i will be getting some ez lok ones from gfs for about £14.

Never tried Wilkinson tuners. Have used their Tremolos, and I even have a Wilkinson cream p90 pickup that I like.

8.8K is a tad hot but not too much..

12.6K is quite hot.. it will more easily overdrive your preamp..

it will probably be warmer, less bright, slightly muted mids.

It's generally better for high output music.. ie, hard rock/metal.

while the vintage output is good to go jazz clean to blues overdrive to hard rock dirt.

I personally don't play much metal, and I prefer to have the best sounds for rock and blues and use a pedal to go over the top.

You want the right kind of wire.. just google it and you'll see there are several to choose from.. shielded wire for the lead or hot wires off the

pup is considered smart. less noise, but don't let the sheild wrap short out other connections.
