jnstrom
I borrowed an R8 and could not believe the sustain it had. Havent played an R9 but might get my hands on one soon to try out. Im still rockn my Les Paul Custom and love it. But there was something about that R8.

Guia
I have only owned one, and received it yesterday, a LP Standard with Cranberry finish.
bobmon54
I played a Standard Faded in Copenhagen once' date=' and it was far better than any Standard faded that I'd ever seen, played, or heard before. I was amazed by how good it was. In fact, I think it was the BEST guitar I've ever played. At the same store, I played an SG Custom (3 pups, maestro vibrola), but the LP Standard faded was better![/quote'] LedFlod- we all love LP's but I gotta know how the "fool" knock off" plays? did you get it in Vegas for 4 large- I love my LP- "it's all in the neck" Size don't matter" etc etc- nice axe or pic or one- Right On! retrosurfer1959
Oh so many confused people, My R9 with a one piece top is clearly the winner but you all have some beautiful second place guitars.

olgimer
I'm very partial to my 05 Standard Faded! but, The absolute finest Les Paul I've ever played or spent time with was a early 80's KM Les Paul "Kalamazoo Special" possibly this was a anniversary model Les Paul??? It had a Quilted Maple Top that was so beautiful you had to keep a stratocaster around just to look at! The tone and the clarity of this guitar was freakish, OMG. This thing was setup so perfect from the factory...if you had tried to connect a strobe tuner to this Les Paul it would have probably blown up! If you took this guitar into the same room with a Marshall stack the world slowed down a little....because you wanted to savor how freaking good it was gonna sound when you plugged it up. He lost that guitar on a $300 pawn ticket

Tim Plains
Kenny, yes, it's VOS. I polished the wood but left the hardware as is. Nowadays, they're all basically VOS. You might walk into a store and find one with a gloss (non-VOS) finish, but chances are every reissue you'll find will have the VOS treatment. Haha, I wish it was mine. It's just a picture I got from the internet. If it was mine, I be talking about it all the time. For a while, I was considering getting my SG refinished to the fool paintjob. But cherry is just too cool. Maybe my next SG though.... hmmm....
