m-theory
You want my theory? China pulled factory workers out of factories to work on the Olympics, and they got behind on everything during that period. Everything that I know of that's new or not in an existing sales pipeline, and is manufactured in China, saw significant delays over the past few months. My guess is that you'll see these start to show up very soon, probably within a couple weeks.
Riffster
I think you may be partially right m-theory, it is not the people where they may be short...heck that is an understatement. With eager province folks wanting a factory job in the cities to make money they have never made before labor is not short in China. It is the materials, mostly steel, due to the huge chinese demand for steel that additionally increased with the building of olympics venues and infrastructure metal prices have gone up and at this point they may not be wanting to add more fuel to the fire. Then there is the marketing, roll out a product and then start selling it months later.... I was going to buy another VJ head but bought a Champ 600 instead... m-theory
I'm lookin at that crate v118.. 150.00.. 18 W.. man. tempting. half the money of the vj. I wouldn't. Other than a few diddle tweaks here and there to make it slightly less offensive than it undoubtedly is in stock form, there's really not a whole lot you can do to make it into a real amp. It's got a transistor, switch-mode power supply. If you're in need of a low-cost 18 watter, get this one: Baby Will
TWANG
bookmarked that! thanks. I've heard such good things about the v118 clean.. that I guess I believed them. and then let the power supply issue fade.. oops TWANG
GrumpyOldMan
Slightly off topic but..... Musically, the big thing in the UK at the moment are Ukuleles, everybody is playing them! This all started about three years ago and now everyone is looking to upgrade from the cheap Mahalo's they bought then and are looking for higher priced Ukes. But apparently they are in really short supply and supplies are getting worse and there could be none in the shops by Christmas (seriously!). The reason, the Olympic games! Apparently they closed the factories to reduce pollution and then drafted in all the workers to man the games. Consequently nothing was produced during that period. Supplies are apparently now drifting out of the country but will take several weeks to get over here as they come by sea. (That I know to be true as I bought an Orville by Gibson Les Paul from Japan a couple of months back and had it shipped by sea to keep costs down. It took 11 weeks! The wait was agony). So the Olympic theory about the Valve Seniors is very probably true. Could also explain the massive price rise in Valve Juniors over the last few weeks (£59 to £85 in one move, that's about 40%). Cheers, Ian. p.s. anyone wanting to see just how good a Ukelele player can be should check out Jake Shimabokuro on YouTube, you'll be gobsmacked!! spaaarky21
Is it dead or alive ?You have to come up with some info SOON. MrMod When I brought my Blues Custom in for work at a local "chain" a couple weeks back, a guy at the store was telling me about how Epiphone was trimming their amp line back to just two models - the Valve Junior and one other. Anyone know what the other is? I was hoping it was the Blues Custom. I love that amp.
TWANG
It would seem like the valve senior would be the one IF they actually make the damn thing. But I dunno.. I just wait and wait.. TWANG
layboomo
I've said it before...create the demand and then jerk everybody off...That's Epiphone!
MrMod
They could at least send the schematic to sewatt. cGil el al. provides excellent support on Epiphones amps. What does Epiphone or Gibson provide?
ssgfowler
This will probably get deleted real quick, but after waiting to try out a VSr. for so long, I've decided to go for the Egnater Rebel 20. Tried it. Man is it a cool little amp.
TWANG
Must be the olympics causing the shipping delay.. I don't know what else to think. You get a guys GAS working then leave him with nothing... serves you right, Epi! I notice Sweetwater is paying attention, as they change their excuse on the website now and then. m-theory
Can you explain the impact of the power supply? Thanks. The breathing that goes on with a tube amp that's pushed hard comes from a stressed power supply. Sag and compression that add a tremendous amount to the "feel" of the amp come from this effect. This doesn't happen in a switch mode power supply. I would suspect that this amp would "feel" very stiff and lifeless.
