tele63
A friend of mine has a celestion G12S- 50 16ohm speaker for sale and was wondering, does anyone know anything about this model and would it be an upgrade or not? I play classic rock/blues with a tele and a couple of pedals. Thanks in advance.
layboomo
Hi the celestion G12S-50 is a small magnet "budget" speaker made by celestion for the low end marshalls. I don't know what you have now,but I assume it's the stock lady luck speaker.....if so the answer is no IMHO.
tele63
Thanks, layboomo. I appreciate your input. I may just go ahead and buy it ($20) and put it in something else later. Thanks again!
m-theory
I second Layboomo. Seeing as how the speaker is one of, if not THE most important part of the signal chain, it's not a real good place to shave pennies, imo. There is some hype involved in marketing the high end products, but, by and large, this is one area where you generally get what you pay for. tele63
Thanks M, You are exactly right. I'll just keep things the way they are for now.
Woko
I have just fitted a Celestion G10 vintage to my valve special and I think there is an improvment in the sound the speaker seem good quality and a good price £29 new.
