Had My Sheraton Stolen after a gig

Recommended Posts

People may remember my Sheraton II on this site. Well after a gig on Thursday night it was stolen out of my car while lugging gear back and forth to the car. I am now the unfortunate non-own of a Sheraton. Went and had a look at some new VS Sheraton IIs yesterday and just can't find one like it. Mine had a beautiful peek-a-boo flame-top and amazing neck. really pissed-off. I have own 2 VS Sheratons in the past and this one was just excellent.

thanks - Well a new search will being for another Sheraton. I actually sold one recently to my nephew and had keep this one. I just spend time fixing the input jack and switch (which was a pain) for someone else to benefit. I think in future I will only take one guitar rather than two (less gear, less chance being ripped off). I was offered a Casino yesterday by guy which was very nice but I really like the solidness and look of the Sheraton. I am always a bit worried by the feedback and rattle on the Casino when playing on overdrive.

Well after a gig on Thursday night it was stolen out of my car while lugging gear back and forth to the car.

So sad to hear.

People who steal from other working people/musicians are the lowest form of humanity. Never lost an instrument' date=' but this working bluesman has been victimized by home break-ins while on the road and even by airline employees taking valuable items from travel luggage.

Insurance helps put the wallet right -- but never the heart. So very sorry.

Hit every BLUE NOTE baaaby..., I'm going to play on:-"

The bastard should be staked to the ground and his entire body smeared in Vegemite, then we release the dingoes on him. I hope they catch the SOB.

It's not the money issue, it just that is was a really nice guitar (and it is such a pain trying to find one that matches). As everyone knows if you find a player you keep it. I have a lot of guitars 4 Gibsons and 5 USA Fenders. The Sheraton II was my only semi-hollow body guitar and it was on par with my Gibsons. I will take another look at some Casinos and Gibsons 333 and 335 but I really like the feel, look and playability of the Sheraton. To me it is the best value for money when it come to Semis.

Well, that's disgusting!! That was one of the prettiest Sheri's I had seen. So, if it played and sounded as good as it looked,

that's a real shame. A Curse, on whoever ripped it off! Karma is a *****...whoever you are!

So sorry, about that, Schtang!

I am really sorry to hear this.

I hope it's found, and returned unharmed.

I think I'd be pretty distressed if I lost Blondy!

Hang in.. maybe what goes around comes around.. and you'll get her back yet.

CSB - yeah it was very pretty and to me it was one of the best looking Sheraton I have seen, great to play. BUT I should have been more diligent when packing up after the gig and kept an eye on it more carefully. It will be sorely missed and I am kicking myself for allowing it to be taken. Because I take a couple of guitars gigging, when packing up the Sherri usually goes in the car first after the amp and then the more expensive guitars. Anyway put this down to experience (the lost of a guitar and a broken car window) I should have had someone stay near the car.

It is important to look forward and seach out another nice Sheraton II, hopefully by early next year I will have another Sherri.

Geez, are you a former Taliban member?

Just kidding, I agree with you 100%. Not just guitars, any theft at all.

No, Schtang, like too many of the rest of us, you've been brainwashed into thinking it was (somehow) your fault, by the folks who put up with this non-sense, when in fact, the only one at fault, was the %^&* THIEF!! The fact that you feel like YOU did something wrong, illustrates just how far away, from real decency, society has become. The victims are somehow, in the wrong, instead of the "perps!" Sorry...don't mean to "rant" here, but this all too common occurance (and feeling), is getting way out of hand...IMHO! So, don't beat yourself up, too much. It wasn't your fault, it was just an all too common sign of the times, unfortunately. I know how you feel, I've been robbed (twice)!

Even the cops made ME feel like it was MY fault, like..."Hey, what do you expect, this is the world we live in," as if that was supposed to explain everything. OK...NOW, I'm really starting to feel a Rant coming on, so I'll stop! But, I HATE (yes, HATE!!) thieves!!

Schtang,

I am so sorry for your loss. Makes all of us question taking so much gear to a gig and then not watching it like a hawk. That was indeed a beautiful Sheraton.

That's Really a Horrible thing to read about.

Everyone always asks me

"Why are you constantly locking your car?"

when I'm simply in and out of a place...to and from..

and I tell them I'm simply trying to avoid a bad experience.

Call it Paranoia if you want to.

I call it watching my ***.=P~

I am truly sorry to hear that...

that's why my wife comes to all my gigs - not to

keep the screaming fans off (yeah right) - but

always helps me keep my gear in check...

Hope your next guitar is a reincarnate...

So sorry to hear the bad news............hopefully you have the sereal number written down.

Thats 1 reason that I always put a piece of masking tape on the inside of some cover,

(trussrod, volume pots, etc,) with my name, and last 4 digits of my social security # on it.

That way, if I ever find it, and theres any doubt, all I have to do is say, "lets pull the cover and find out".

Hope you get YOUR'S back.....but if not, I hope you find a really sweet replacement.

Now you know how someone feels when they've been raped. To steal one's guitar is downright personal because no two guitars are exactly alike. Fortunately, there are still some Elitist Sheratons around. And if you don't want to pop for one of those, they are still available in the regular model, though MIC instead of MIK. I'm not sure who sells them in Australia. Up here, we can look at different specimens at Sweetwater (listed by serial number). Like you, I like the vintage sunburst a lot.
