Greg Curtis
Want to change out the tuners on the Les Paul Standard Plus I just bought. Anyone know of any that are a direct drop in. Would like to go with Grover or Gotoh or any other quality tuners.
charlie brown
Goto, Grover, Kluson, Schaller...all make that style tuner...which should be a direct replacement. Do you have locking bushings (screw in), or push in? Stew Mac usually has a printed hole size and/or shaft hole requiment designation, along side their tuner descriptions...so you can check for that compatibility. TWANG
I have Grovers in both of mine.. just switched to locking for the lp which I put the bigsby on. They go right in for sure, locking or non locking. The sperzels wont! I always say I like grovers.. but really, all charile mentioned are making good tuners these days. it's just a question of looks or buttons or whatnot.. I haven't tried them all for fit, though.. Once I found a good set for that I was happy. TWANG
TWANG
Yah. I want to be sure grovers will fit.. just because they fit my sheri doesn't mean they'll fit the les paul standard models.. has anyone put grovers in their les paul ... ? or another brand that went right in? my lp studi, which should be the same hole size as a standard needed no modification at all.. It seems to me they ought to go right in.. even the lp 100 took grovers.. only the g310 has had smaller holes for me, so far. I'm probably being paranoid.. but may as well ask! Muskank Sally
Pics? My LP Plus came with Grovers. I'm quite pleased with them, never had a problem with them either. If yours are the older Kluson style with the plastic tuning keys then I would suggest the Gibson Deluxe Tuners if you want a direct drop-in replacement.
