John Van Ouwerkerk Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I have an Epiphone "John Lennon" acoustic/electric guitar and I am wondering what strings were put on the guitar at the factory.
TheP-40s Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Not sure but perhaps these http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gibson-SAGMB12-Masterbuilt-Premium-Phosphor-Bronze-Acoustic-Strings?sku=102307
taxman Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Factory set is a nickel plated electric guitar string set (not acoustic strings). Gauge: .011, .014, .019, .030, .041, .052 I have this guitar and I immediately swapped strings to a slightly lighter (on the bass strings) set. I went with the D'Addario EXL 115W -- wound G string. Hard to find in stores, but easy to buy on the internet. They work great with the guitar. Gauge: .011, .014, .021, .028, .038, .049 I'm sure you know the guitar requires electric guitar strings. Stick with them. Guitar sounds really cool that way.
theDeuce Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 My use of this guitar doesn't require the use of electric guitar strings. I use D'Addario Phos. Bronze 12s on mine. Granted I do not play it with an amp, or I would probably use electric guitar strings (nickel). BTW, don't get too hung up on what brand or size the factory put on when new. Keep asking around what others use and recommend. Get some ideas, and try different sets to find the ones you like.
stone1281734000 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Losts of Beatle purists like to restring with Pyramid flatwound electrics on their J or EJ160E's. But like eGuitarNut, I use mine as an acoustic and have it strung with Martin 12's. I have a Gibson Bozeman solid top J160E.
