TehLesPaulZorz Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I'm planning on a BB 2 and 3 combo, and as far as I see, there's only one Burstbucker 2 flavor. Do they come in seperate neck and bridge positions? or is it only one?
carverman Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Maybe this link will give you all the info you need on BB's. http://www.musiciansnews.com/guitars/18/gibson_burstbucker_2_pickup_nickel.shtml From the description I have on BB2/BB3; (relative output refers to scale of 1-10) BB2: Alnico II (Relative output= 6.75), historically accurate PAF, with airy tone and unbalanced coils. 8.4Kohm BB3: Alnico II (relative o/p = 7.75) historically accurate PAF, slightly overwound airy tone with unbalanced coils 8.8K ohm.
Ricochet Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 BB2: Alnico II 8.4Kohm BB3: Alnico II 8.8K ohm. Those numbers seem a bit high? According to my notes the BB2 is approx. 8.0-8.1 and the BB3 is approx. 8.2-8.4 (Approximates because the BBs are scatterwound and will vary in resistance) BB2s are one flavour only. You want to match with either a BB1 or BB3, or not...
antwhi2001 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Worth considering BB Pro too, also available in different bridge and neck outputs. Alnico V instead of Alnico II. The Pros I have seem slightly warmer. Check the Gibson site, pickups I think are under "accessories"?
Ricochet Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Worth considering BB Pro too' date=' also available in different bridge and neck outputs.[/quote'] The output is similar to BB1 for the neck and BB2 for the bridge-humbucker.
