Guest alanhindle Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Come on guys, at only $42 Million, one of these is not much more than the price of a '59 Les Paul and there are only three of these babies going, as opposed to dozens of manky old Lesters. It's got to be the ultimate investment and/or modding platform. Charlie, you must be tempted surely. They make take a couple of your cameras in part exchange. Twang, how about you mate, you could do some serious modding with one of these. The Discovery Studio model would look great with new landing gear, a Bigsby, and a couple of P90s. Get that kitchen table out and post those before and after pics.
charlie brown Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Nice ride, too! Though, the air can get a bit thin, at times. Just wish it came in some other, more festive, colors....you know? But, they are nicely "relic'd!" Not sure how "Green" they are...probably wasn't a big concern, when they were concieved/constructed?! ;>) CB
TWANG Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I used to have a great big poster of the space shuttle.. took up the whole wall in my music room. I miss it. TWANG
Guest alanhindle Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Yea' date=' but the Gibson is way better.[/quote'] No Way! The Shuttle's got that all important NASA badge on the wings which bumps up the price by $25 Million, despite the fact that it was mass produced in a batch of 6. Anyway, I'm going to beat you all to one of them because I've got four Chinese Satellites to trade in.

charlie brown Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Can your Gibson recycle your urine to make it drinkable? I DON'T THINK SO! That would be cool, as long as it kept the alcohol content! You'd never need a "refill," that way. ;>) CB
Guest alanhindle Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Can your Gibson recycle your urine to make it drinkable? I DON'T THINK SO! Despite this, a number of musicians have still tried.
brad1 Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I just don't think it will fit in the backyard.:D
charlie brown Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 I just don't think it will fit in the backyard.:D LOL! Brad, if you could afford the Space Shuttle, you could afford a bigger back yard, runway, and hanger to boot! ;>) CB
Emetry Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Do you think they'd be willing to take some gear in trade?
28v6r Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Yeah, just imagine after a hard days graft you come home pick up your favourite 59' Shuttle, connect it up to the amp and fire it through the "Overdrive" pedal......... I rest my case....
antwhi2001 Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Come on, surely you guys can spot a Chinese scam when you see one? Look at those tail fins...no way that's a genuine USA model.
WireWhipper Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Gotta go with the space shuttle, but *only* if it has air conditioning and cruise control.
JefferySmith Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Gotta go with the space shuttle' date=' but *only* if it has air conditioning and cruise control.[/quote'] Good luck getting that diaper smell out of the cockpit.
TWANG Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 if the neighbors complained you're too loud, with the shuttle you just go to space. the gas mileage is pretty crappy though, so no new strings this month. TWANG
Notes_Norton Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Leilani (the wife) is very tolerant about most of my music tool (toy) purchases, after all, she plays music too and is a partner in one of my music businesses, but I don't think she would like it if I came home with the shuttle. But then again, if it was full of fuel and I could take her for a spin around the earth a few times, I'm sure she would dig it. Notes

Do we have a serial number to figure out what plant it was built at?
28v6r Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Aye Alan, that's some size of "Flyin' V" right enough, try sticking that through a Marshall Amp.....
