Epiphone Lucille Serial Number decoding

Hey all, I'm looking into getting an Epiphone Lucille. Its a used model from the Peerless plant, but I can't find the year through the serial number. Its serial number is R0403043. When I put this into the Guitar Project serial number decoder it doesn't work. Could it be an 04? I thought Peerless was done in 2003.

You are correct. According to the Gibson site, your guitar is a Peerlees manufactured March 2004.

 

I don't know when or if that plant closed.

The plant has not closed --- in fact, it is turning out some extremely nice guitars under Peerless' own name. I think Epiphone stopped contracting with them, is all, somtime over the last few years.
