wrighty3693 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Just a quick message to say thankyou to Epiphone instruments, as using their instruments to learn music has helped me become a Gifted and Talented student, so thanks a bunch everyone from Epiphone!
Bender 4 Life Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 +1 on that ! Thanks to the Epi company, I've added a couple of highly playable, great sounding guitars to my "harem" that i'd have trouble affording from Gibson. I also have my eye on a couple more in the near future. Happy Holidays and keep us rockin' Epi. !!!!!!!!
TWANG Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Hey, I'm sitting here looking at blondy on the stand, where it's almost spent it's entire life except in my hands, 15 years I guess.. and I'm still a gifted and talented student, too! Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Epiphone! TWANG
TWANG Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Well it works both ways, I think. We spend the money, but they provide a good enough product for us to choose. So.. lighten up you grinch! TWANG
tulsaslim Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 In lieu of the transition from Korea to China and the demise of the elitists I just hope we feel the same way this time next year.
TWANG Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 epis gonna have to keep that reputation up while dealing with those gfs agiles rondos.. TWANG
charlie brown Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I am hoping, the quality will not just remain the same, but actually improve to "Elitist" standards, now that Quingdao is producing "only Epiphone" guitars. There's simply no reason not to be able to produce even near "Kalamazoo" quality and spec's, on Epiphone guitars, anymore. I may be the "dreamer," here...but I'm hopeful they will do just that, and it looks as though they're headed in that direction, anyway. Updated or reissues of the solid body Epi's of the Kalamazoo period. Just hope they'll bring back the Riviera (with correct Epi specs/appointments), and some of the other Archtops, that were discontinued, prior to or during, transition. The G-400's I'd like to see better (more correct to early '60's) bevelling all around, especially between the horns and the neck. But, then...I'd like to see Gibson, go back that way, as well...and not have to spend "Custom Shop" prices, for something that should be done "correctly" IMHO, in the first place. ;>) Just an idea...PEACE! CB
IntelligentAl Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Epiphone, YOU ROCK! I am only a beginner, so buying a Gibson is not necessary for me. But even if I was an advanced player, i would still choose an Epiphone because a) I can afford them and They are AWESOME! I love my Les Paul Studio and will hopefully have many more Epis in the future. Thank you Epiphone!

CB[/quote'] I wonder if the majors are feeling that they may have to go down the route of higher quality, 'lower' end guitars, to compete with the rising standards of new brands coming out of China, Korea & vicinity. Look what Squier have just done with the Classic Vibe series. I recently bought a Chinese acoustic bass by Michael Kelly, in preference to models by Fender and (admittedly more expensive) Tacoma. Wandering round Denmark Street a while ago I was impressed by a superb range of many authentic copies by a Chinese company, I think called Hodson. I have a good feeling about the future of Epiphone from China. Until of course the GB pound drops even further against the Chinese dollar and goods generally become more expensive from China as their economy grows. I need a stash of money set aside for when models like the Riviera P93 come out, before they sell out! I think we'll be seeing a lot more of this kind of quality and thought going into the models Epiphone produce.
Just Strum Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I think most will agree they are not the greatest guitar, but there are many in their line-up that offer great bang for the buck. I just hope they fill the voids that were made this year.
RSDx Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Cheers, happy holidays, etc ..... Yeah, I'll get in on the Epi thanx - I love both of my China-built guits (AJ18-SNA, and "Miss Honey" LP ) I'm on winter break from my schooling, graduate in late March ..... will be nice to have the additional income again when I get back to workin' .... I expect to add another Epi or 2 to my small Epi collection, here (of course, I pledge no allegiance to any manufacturer ..... I'd be happy to pick up a F@nd@r Tele as well.... )
