classicxman Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Just want to add a plug for GFS. I had ordered two Classic IIs for my Emperor II and it appeared that they sent me two neck pups. They were confident that one of the necks was really a bridge and just labeled wrong. Despite that, they offered to send me out a replacement. We had the discussion on the 24th and I just received the replacement today on the 26th along with a prepaid label to send the original back with. Great custom service from both Jay and Dave at GFS Can't wait to get those custom IIs installed.
Just Strum Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 I've heard a lot of good things about Jay at GFS. I haven't purchased anything from them, but I am considering a guitar and Jay responded to my e-mail within an hour or two and is always helpful. Nice of you to take the time to post something.
Fadedepi Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 AAA+ I've had nothing short of GREAT service from GFS. (Purchase and Exchange) These Guys are Top Notch!!! Thanks, Faded....
kevin134 Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Just purchased a Dream 180 recently, before I bought I emailed them a question, quick answer back. The Dream 180 actually sounded pretty good. I put it in my stepsons peewee lespaul, not the best platform, but sounds pretty nice anyways
iansmitchell Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 How do the alnico IIs sound? Do they have those sweet PAF round sound?
classicxman Posted December 27, 2008 Author Posted December 27, 2008 How do the alnico IIs sound? Do they have those sweet PAF round sound? I don't have them set-up yet, but GFS tells me they are "smoother and warmer" than the Vintage 59s.
BSAKing Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Please provide impressions on these pups! I am torn between the vintage 59's or the classic II's for the same type (empereror II) guitar.... Thanks.
High_Speed Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 I just got a set of the Classic IIs myself, and I really like them. But, personally, I think they're a little higher output than was anticipated. Jay over at GFS verified this via email by stating that they are actually rather high output. Would be curious to know how they sound when you get them in.
hybrid77 Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Has anyone ever bought on of their guitars?
generation zero Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Can someone post the guy's email addy for GFS pickups? I have a few questions for them, but I can't get their site to work on my phone, LOL. You can send it to me as a pm if you'd rather not post somebody's email addy publicly. Thanks!

tulsaslim Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 My brother just finished installing some new VEH pickups on his son's LP and said they sound great. I've had great luck with GFS stuff.

generation zero Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 My brother just finished installing some new VEH pickups on his son's LP and said they sound great. I've had great luck with GFS stuff. Covered or uncovered? How would you compare the VEH to a 498t or a Duncan 59? I'm thinking of trying VEH, I'm looking for something for my PRS copy that will be either close to one of those or somewhere inbetween... Think the VEH will cut it?
tulsaslim Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 They were covered. I'll ask him about the other stuff since I know he has a couple guitars with 498s and at least one with Duncan 59s.
