tvyelwhiteflag Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 I need a wiring diagram for a Dot I need to know what gauge/type of wire works best I need to know what sort of volume controls/tone controls will work best Who's done this and done a GREAT job?
jcwillow777 Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Great job?? Both guitars work and I haven't had any problems since I wired them up a year ago. Wiring Diagram: http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=2h_2v_2t_3w I use vintage style braided shielded wire basically everywhere in a semi-hollowbody. I've done a Dot and a Sherry. Stewmac.com sells it by the roll: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Supplies:_Wire,_cables/Vintage_Push-Back_Wire.html #1473 but I got mine at guitarcandy.com by the foot: http://www.guitarcandy.com/tek9.asp?pg=products&grp=127 I used 500K pots, I recommend stewmacs Alpha pots. They are a very good quality and they will fit in the existing holes on your guitar. CTS pots are a better quality, but you will have to make the holes larger on your guitar for them to fit. The guitars come with audio taper for volume and linear taper for tone. I have used audio taper for both and have had excellent results. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Potentiometers_and_push-pull_pots/1/Potentiometers_and_Push-Pull_Pots.html I also recommend a Switchcraft switch, short straight, and a Switchcraft 1/4" jack with the long shaft, the regular is too short. Twang has made pre-wired/soldered harnesses in the past. I can't speak for him, but I think he still does.
