Sheraton & Valve Jnr or Other?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm hopefully going to become the owner of a Sheraton pretty soon and had been looking at the Valve Jnr combo as a partner amp - then noticed it doesn't have a headphone socket ... :P

Can anyone offer any other similar amps which do have a headphone socket which has a similar sound? I can't seem to find any 5w tube amps which do have a headphone socket - do any exist?

Or - is this amp easily modded to fit a headphone and/or line out socket?

Thanks for any info

I play a sheri, too.

and a vj.

no headphones though. haven't seen a mod for that, that I can recall.

I use a roland micro cube.

for one thing, it lets me play a cd into it.. with phones out..

also, it's got really surprisingly good sounds.

the preamps are very nice.. and as a pedal in front of the vj, it's quite good!

so though it's a bit more money that way, what I wound up with was pretty satisfying..

a tiny portable great sounding practice tool for phones..

and a darn nice little preamp with some effects and various amp models which I can run straight to amp or pa.

judging by my micro cube, they are built well enough that ebay used is a darn safe bet.

I've been trying to find another one, cheap, too.

I want to pull the head, build a cab for it and use it as a dedicated phones unit.

then use the stock cab as a stack with my other cube.

by the way.. I added the loop de jr..

now this has a full level signal going out.. so you need attenaution on whatever it runs into. which the cube, or pedals, don't have.

but. you can break into the vj power amp. bypassing the preamp tube..

and what you wind up with is

several modelled preamp sounds with effects added after them then into the power amp.

and it sounds really very nice.

Not quite as dynamic for pick sensitivity as the actual vj.. and no, not quite as nice as a real tube, but very very good to my ears.

sounds good straight into an unmodified vj, as well.

the gain and volume controls along with the preamp selections make it work great.
