stanley.climbfall Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Does anyone know what is happening in Epiphone's factories because I have been waiting for my Sheraton II (ordered from UK) for almost 2 months and still no one knows when will I get it. The reason I'm asking this is that this guitar has been out of stock in almost every European music store and at the moment it is almost impossible to buy it as new from any shop. Is there any official information about this thing?
Writers Bloc Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I know what you mean, today I drove around Calgary and could only find one right handed Sheraton II, and it was an older one.
charlie brown Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Anything here, is only speculation. Probably need to write or call Gibson/Epiphone, direct? Or, have your dealer do it, in your presence. If you call yourself, have your dealer name/number, and (his) order number (for the guitar), it at all possible. Otherwise, they won't know beyond a very general date. Most factories don't make all models, all the time..they do it in segments. And, by what is backorderd the most/longest. So, you may be just experiencing a period of time, where the Sheraton isn't being made, right now. (Again, this is only an idea, or speculation on MY part...) Gibson should be able to give you a lot better idea, as to what's happening. But.. who knows? (Europe) 00+800-444-2766-1 or service.europe@gibson.com Cheers, and good luck! CB

CB [/quote'] Thanks for the info I will call them if i don't get any news in a week from now. My dealer (DigitalVillage.co.uk) says that they are calling/contacting Epiphone every day and asking what's happening with Sheraton and all they (dealer) said to me is that Epiphone doesn't even know when they are able to supply guitar to my dealer. After all this never ending waiting I have to replace original pickups with Gibson's '57 Classic and that will aslo cost money and take time because I don't know to replace them by myself because I have heard that Sheraton is very complicated guitar for pickup replacement.. ps. Writers Bloc, yeah it seems that they are sold out almost everywhere. I hope that I don't need to wait until the next summer to get my guitar.
charlie brown Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Well, it's not that it's "complicated," as much as it's a "pain" to get to...wiring harness, etc. You have to go through the F holes, and/or pickup holes, depending on what All you're going to "mod." Changing just the pickups isn't that big of a deal, but the wiring harness, with the pots, and input jack, IS a "pain!" LOL! Just takes patience, and being organized/methodical. '57's are a good/great fit(tone wise), for Sheri's. CB
wilko1281734117 Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Hi, I got lucky when I ordered mine. The shipment turned up 3 days after I ordered. It came from GAK here in the UK. Unfortunately the guitar wasn't the best. It just didn't feel right. It came with a block of wood inside the body of the guitar just rattling around which I didn't think too much of and the fretboard had a bit of a scratch on it. I am not knocking epiphone at alL, I understand that these things happen from time to time. Any way to cut a long story short it had to go back and I asked for a replacement. Unfortunatly they had sold out of the batch completely and I would have to wait until another batch came in. I was a bit impatient and decided to have a good look around for another from elsewhere. I didn't hold out much hope as I knew the VS sheri was in short supply. Then I got in touch with guitarguitar in Edinborough. Really nice guys, very friendly and helpful and they had the VS sheri in stock. I couldn't believe it. I ordered it there and then and rang GAK back to get a refund which they did....eventually! I dont know if they have any more in stock I got mine just before christmas but they are well worth a try and I highly recomend them. I even got myself a little VOX VT30 from them a few days later for at messing with at home!! So all I kan say is give them a try www.guitarguitar.co.uk I just went and had a quick look and they are showing sheris in stock on there website which is a good sign as they say they dont put it up unless its in stock!! I gave them a call though. GAK couldn't believe that I had mannaged to get one from somewhere else. There exact words were "they have the goose thal lays the golden eggs if they have VS sheratons in stock" I guess they do!! Let me know how you get on J A Y

CB [/quote'] Exactly! :) But I can pay about 60€ in the local store so professional can do it for me because personally I don't have time to learn it on my only electric guitar. :) Before this one I had Casino cherry and it was awsome guitar but the neck was too thin for me. With Sheraton my playing is much better, at least to me. :)

I got pretty good offer from DigitalVillage.co.uk Sheraton II + Epiphone's hard case 550€ including shipping.
stanley.climbfall Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 Still no e-mail answer from guitarguitar.co.uk.

There main distribution center for Gibson and Epiphone is thru Yorkeville in Pickering Ontario.
stanley.climbfall Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 Any news regarding this thing? ps. That UK shop didn't answered to my email.
stanley.climbfall Posted January 23, 2009 Author Posted January 23, 2009 I got mail from DV247.com (the shop I ordered from) and "Gibson Epiphone" has reported that they still can't deliver any Sheraton or hard case for it. I'm wondering what is going on? Financial crisis or what? I have been waiting for this guitar since November 24th.
wilko1281734117 Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Hi, im surprised to hear that you haven't heard anything from guitarguitar. They were very good with me. That would be great if you can call them and ask because it is much easier and my english is not that goor (or honestly i'm just shy/lazy) I got an email today from the DV247.com and they are still waiting for the delivery so no one knows when will my guitar be delivered to me because I think even Epiphone doesn't know when can they deliver at least my guitar to the shop I ordered from. The problem is that I don't have any other options because 335 is too expensive for a poor student and Epiphone's LPs are too weak for me and if I would buy LP i would definitly buy Faded or Custom/Custom shop. Thanks in advance bro.
wilko1281734117 Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Hi stanley.climbfall, I tried to call them up today after seeing your reply. Unfortunately I dont think they are open on sundays. I will give them a call tomorrow (monday) to see if they have any sheri's in stock. I will also ask about shipping costs to Finland so you know what your total cost is going to be (in GBP) I hope they do have 1 in stock for you. I know what its like. Waiting is a pain. Hopefully I will have time to visit the forums tomorrow evening sometime to give you an answer. Fingers crossed it will be the 1 you are hoping for. Oh and by the way I have no affiliation with guitarguitar but just found them really helpful. I am just offering my help. I think I have been watching to many episodes of 'my name is earl' Do good things and good things happen!!! will let you know how I get on.
Skippy1281734134 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Hi Stanley. I feel your pain, as I have been trying to get a left handed Sheraton for a while now, with no success. I thought you might like to know that there are right handed Sheratons in stock in a couple of shops in Dublin. They have one in Waltons ( http://www.waltons.ie/ ). They have an online store, but annoyingly, the Sheraton doesn't seem to be in their list of products. But they do have one, if you phone them they might be able to sort you out. They also have one in Goodwins ( http://www.goodwinsmusic.ie/ ), who also have an an online store but don't have it on their list of products either. As a rule, guitars in Ireland tend to be a bit more expensive than elsewhere, and with the weak Pound, it's much cheaper for people in the Eurozone to buy stuff from Britain at the moment. But if you need one right now, these guys do definately have Sheratons in stock. Best of luck. And if anyone knows of a lefty Sheraton anywhere it'd be much appreciated. Cheers.
wilko1281734117 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Hi stanley, just a note to say.... CHECK YOUR PM BOX =D>/ best J A Y
stanley.climbfall Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 Hi Stanley' date=' sorry for your long waiting, must it be a sheraton or could it be another ES 335-Type? look at this, I think they speek finnish http://www.thomann.de/fi/epiphone_puoliakustiset_kitarat.html http://www.thomann.de/fi/news.html normally they have things on stock, when most others didn't have Peter[/quote'] Hi thanks for your help too but Thomann have pretty expensive price + they don't have it in stock because I have ordered from them before dv247.com but because of 3 weeks waiting and more than 100€ bigger price I have cancelled my order from Thomann and I'm 99% sure they don't have Sheraton II VS in stock at all as many other shop aswell. Cheers
stanley.climbfall Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 I rang guitarguitar.co.uk and they don't have any VS in stock. Ordering one VS from them now can easly take 2-3 months according the seller from Glasgow shop.
Bender 4 Life Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 The Guitar Center warehouse in Kansas City Ks. USA is supposed to have a shipment of VS Sheraton II's coming in Friday, 1/30/09. I understand that shipping, and customs would probably be rediculously high, but it is an alternative. Good Luck !

Good Luck ![/quote'] Yeah! But the problem is when you order something like guitar from outside of EU then you have to pay bigger shipping (which is not so big deal) and taxes aswell and after all these costs you may save barely 50€ or maybe you have to pay +150€ more depending what you buy and from where. I can see so cool 335s on eBay but I just don't have enough money for it now even I want to own at least one Gibson's 335 in the future.
stanley.climbfall Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 My search for this guitar continues... :D
stanley.climbfall Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 If anyone hear some news about this situation please report it here.
stanley.climbfall Posted February 8, 2009 Author Posted February 8, 2009 Guitarguitar.co.uk has removed all but natural color from their website? ;)
