klalle Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Hello. I'm thinking about buying an Epiphone Gothic Explorer, but the internet store (Thomann in Germany) says in the ad for it, that the body material is mahogany and alder!? All other places I've looked it states that the gothic explorer body is pure mahogany.... Are they wrong at Thomann's or has Epiphone made this model with two woodtypes as well? Thanks in advance Klaus from Denmark
TWANG Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 You find this quite often. My lp studio was advertised as mahogany. other studios were, but some were said to be mahogany and alder. This seems to vary. Alder is what your strats and teles are made out of, most of the time, it's good wood. Mahogany is just the choice gibson made and epiphone stays close to it's own, so to speak. I really wouldn't let it bother me if that was the guitar I had chosen. TWANG
