Hiberna Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Yep, that golden epiphone im on about again, i finially desided to fork out for it and got it. the electronics are SHOT in it, it buzz a **** load BUT theres one thing ive noticed, it changes colour depending on how good the light is. In sunlight its golden but in artificial light it seems to be silver. Its quite a good effect, heres some pictures Natural light Artificial light Awesome aint it? also the pickups are a little strange, since the bridge is at an big angle but still im thinking bout removing the scratchplate and either replacing it or leaving it without.
EpiSheriMan Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Nice.....love the trem... How much she set you back?
Hiberna Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 400, originally 500 but i traded some stuff in. thing is, she's one of a kind. well one of very very very few
dougg330 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 My Riviera had an angled pickup like your bridge unit. I unscrewed the PU surround ring and lifted it, freeing the PU, which then popped up and has been perfectly level every since. Have you tried that?
Hiberna Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 I know how its done, im just wondering whether it made a diffrence. i dont think it did but i cant tell since i aint heard it at all yet since the electrics in it a broke.
JohnMcClane5000 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Rivieras are always cool guitars! I even think they look cooler than a ES-335, because you have the possibility to upgrade with a bigsby (without having a "CUSTOM MADE" Plaque where the stoptailpiece was).. Great looking guitar! Nick
Hiberna Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 non of this guitar was customised, it came from epi like this, its why its called a riviera VT SF. VT for vibrato tailpeice and SF for silver flake. and yea its better then the gibbos ive tryed. i searched for ages for hollowbodys that didnt tell you that it was the 50s and the rivieras to me seemed like it since they boast great distortion tones as well as cleans. ALL the other hollowbodys all gave horrible muddy distortions that were noway as crisp or unique sounding as the rivieras. its why i love using them
