It has no knob indicators and some of the coloring looks off ( I understand this could be due to lighting) ,no documentation and no special edition case. I was just wondering because I am by no means an expert. Thanks, Matt
brad1 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I am no expert by any means either. But I would stay clear of that purchase. Too many flags. First, the price is extremely low, and with only a couple of hours left, nobody has even bid on it yet. Secondly, the company selling the guitar is called Gr8buys Australia. So why in the heck is the guitar being shipped from China???? The seller has 100% rating, but they only have 11 transactions under their belt. It looks like it's a deal that's too good to be true. And that would also make me leary of this auction.
Whitmore Willy Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 If you look at the super size picture of the headstock you can clearly see the break in the letter O (in the Epiphone logo) is at the bottom of the letter. Shouldn't it be at the top? No Epiphone ships directly to the buyer. And none that I have ever heard of from Hong Kong.
PP_CS336 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 If you look at the super size picture of the headstock you can clearly see the break in the letter O (in the Epiphone logo) is at the bottom of the letter. Shouldn't it be at the top? Not only that, the symmetry of the top and bottom of the headstock are off. The bottom portion on this one seems much too wide. I also thought that the Slash models (regular or Gold-top) came with Seymour Duncan pickups, not Epiphone humbuckers. I smell a rat!
Canine Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 The Slash model DOES COME with SD pups, that's one of the main features. You could ask the seller to send you a pic of the back of the pickups, the metal plate says Seymour Duncan, and that's that! I can't believe people wanna sell fakes, isn't that a federal felony?
mgrmatt Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 I agree Canine, that's why I posted this auction. It absoloutely breaks my heart every time I see a post with someone thinking they have a new Epiphone only to find out it's a fake. I wish that there was more being done to put a halt to the fake epi market. Matt
acewarslave Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 ive seen this guy selling the ace frehley fake eppis too..this is a problem over here but nobody seems to do anything about it luckly people are starting to wise up...and not buy them=d>
LesBonfire Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 yah that guitar is a fake...there wouldn't be any decals on the pickups saying they were "epiphone alnico classics"...there should also be the top hat sticker on it...the control knobs have no indicator and are not inline with the neck...the logo is off...and those tuners look crappy...the biddings closed anyways...but that is a fake epiphone
Bender 4 Life Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 One of our "forum bro's" won the matched set Gib & Epi. Slash signature guitars from the drawing a week or 2 ago, and posted good pics of both, with all the "case candy" that comes with both. The search engine may take you to that thread, his location is Pittsburg. The guitar that was being sold on Fleabay......wasn't even a GOOD fake.
