twiggy Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Hey guys. So finally!!! and once again finally, it's home!!! You may remember me asking for advise on shipping and good hardcase. It's all been and gone. Today is the Day. Though I'm following advise of some of you here, who said new guitar needs to be in the box for 24h (well I'm not gonna keep it so long... it's impossible. Taking that outside is +8 degrees and sunny, shouldn't be that big temperature difference, so we'll see it pretty soon). And I really hope there are no surprises inside ... For those guitar porn lovers:
valriver40 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 i can not wait to much longer, take it out. two hours should all you need. good luck twiggy.
generation zero Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 LOL... if that's "guitar porn", this is "real porn": Hope everything is in good shape when you open it up... and no, I will NOT be posting the equivalent "real porn" pic when that happens, LOL! What kind of guitar is it, anyway? I don't remember the thread from before, so for me at least, there IS a surprise in the box!
IntelligentAl Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 AARRGGHH!! Open the box before we all go crazy! Looking forward to some real pictures...
twiggy Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 Totally unbelievable!!! first of all advise to everyone with 335 style guitars: make yourself a favour and get one of SKB-35 hardshell cases. why? the story: When it showed up on MF I couldn't resist and called them. Unfortunately they said they don't ship to UK. Well, I contacted Gibson and asked if this beauty going to come to Europe at any time in the future and the answer obviously was - NO!. So called me causin in Chicago, got this permit and address and pulled the trigger. That was last october :- (by the way didn't suspect it will come without hardcase). So hunted for that one quite a bit and following advises bought SKB-35 (superb case with full neck support and even dedicated space for bigsby). Finally small money transfer to cover shipping and long messages bout importance of packing ... Why unbelievable? my causin couldn't pack it less :- he just wrapped neck in bubble wrap, put guitar in case, closed it, put case in a carton box (no paper around!) that box found it's way to slightly bigger one in usps and here we are. Miracle? guitar is just like from factory (yes, all the pots are really loose and will require proper set up). But apart from that, unbelievable, seems like those guys really cared what they shipping. To summarise: Guitar: $499.00 Case: $79.99 (found it b-stock) Shipping: $100.00 The glorious UK import charges: $119.00 (aparently they charge 22.00% VAT on imports) Total: $797.99 (£560.00) well, expensive entertainment but as I look at it (can't think clearly yet) and obviously photos:

charlie brown Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Yeah, you'll love it! The "loose parts," are totally normal, and no big deal to fix, at all. Set up, should be a breeze, as well. I did mine, myself...and, if "I" can do it, anyone can. LOL! Nice case, too. Congratulations, all around! CB
