Rick Garrett
I stopped in at my local music shop today and played several Gibsons and some Martins. I've been thinking of ordering a new J185 in vintage burst to go with my burst CJ165. Today I ordered the J185. If it comes in and sounds like a dog I won't keep it and my music store guy called Gibson to tell them so. I also played a Gibson J100 that was beautiful but sounded like it was stuff with socks or something. One thing was it had old strings but even given that the sound of that guitar was just not good at all. My CJ would blow that big guitar away for tone and volume. If the J100 would have had the tone I was after I would have brought it home today. So anyways, in a couple of weeks my J185 should be in. When it gets here I'll post some pics for you guys to see. That is if it's a winner and I keep it. :) Rick

eds111
Rick, I am interested in both of these models, but would only buy one. So your review and comparison will be of great interest to me.
Rick Garrett
Sure Ed, I'll post a review of the two side by side comparison after it gets here. It is going to have to be one more fine guitar to keep up with my Rosewood CJ though.
Dave in SLC
Rick, I love my '07 J-185 TV vintage 'burst, and have only heard good things about '08 QC. Dave in SLC
guitarstrummer
I believe that the one Dave in SLC bought had the nicest looking bridge of any I've ever seen. It looked like it was Brazilian that they may have had left over and used it for the bridge. If he wouldn't have bought it, I would have, just for that bridge. Hopefully, yours will be just as nice.
