Gashole Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 ...on the Valve Senior-assuming it's released as scheduled? Me for one...I dont' know. I know I want to, but with a BC 30 now and money tight...I hate to say it but I might have to exert some self control. At least until I hear somebody or 3 in hear say they got it and it was a good choice for them. A really good choice. Will the recession put a hurt on what might have been a big release?
fenrirlupus Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 my birthday is on the 25th... unfortunately, my parents won't spend over $200... ever. so if you find a 33.33333% off sale, let me know. ;) and they really don't want to spend that much anyway, because that's the most i've ever gotten (my guitar...) and that would leave me without a speaker unless there's a dummy load output on the senior. or wait... would it matter if i didn't use a speaker on my SS amp and didn't use a dummy load? (headphone output into valve senior, valve senior into speaker) the clean channel is very clean... so I'm sure it'd sound fine if you can use no speaker... is it just tube amps that can't run without one? EDIT: that's 33.3333333% off of sweetwater's price, which is 40% off the list price... :( I'm guessing i'll just have to give you a big fat NO.
scott58 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I'm still in love with my Vj. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
strangedogs Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I'm still in love with my Vj. If it ain't broke don't fix it. me too. I'm adding pedals slowly to my V3 setup instead (as the budget allows)... I added a Russian Big Muff PI - along with my Korg Multi-effects and an Ibanez Tubescreamer. Next one will be a 10-band EQ like you use Scott, and then a Holy Grail maybe... I can always add to my VJ and get more and more options so amp-wise I'm set. Already have 3 tube amps and 2 SS too so I'll just add more goodies to my arsenal. My VJ is my main practice rig now - although I still play with modelers too on my Mac/Logic DAW when noise is a problem.
wedgeSG Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Was REALLY considering it but the Baby Will has caught my attention and is looking like a mightilly tempting alterative. Buying up the parts as I can afford 'em I think I'll still have less in the total con- version when it's finsihed than the new head. Not to mention nearly enough stuff left laying around to build another stock Jr. decisions, decisions.... Wedgie
cGil Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Definitely get the optional hum balance pot for your Baby Will. I just wrapped up a Baby Will VJr conversion project, and the hum balance pot was the final key to killing the remaining hum issues. I also used the Heyboer OT from turretboards.com, and this Baby Will sounds every bit as good as my GDS 18watt,... except for the lack of a trem channel. Hey, I happen to like my trem channel. A lot! Hey, if you really want a great 18watt for extra super cheep, snag a v1 VJr chassis and PT off fleabay, and get an OT from Musical Power Supplies for your Baby Will project. You may have to wait a while for Matt to get more OT's in stock. He seems to sell out pretty quick when he's got 'em cuz they're supposed to be almost as good as the Heyboers, and they'll save you a bundle of cash. http://www.musicalpowersupplies.com/ Gil...
