stemmy Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Trying to identify this Limited Edition Les Paul - Serial number shows to be made in 2000, original owner claims he purchased it in the mid 90's. I can't seem to locate a good color name, maybe Sparke or Flake Top? Any help would be appreciated!
zombywoof Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Can't help you much but back in I am guessing '97 or so I had a student who had a blue metalflake Standard which he bought new so they had to be available in the mid-to late-90s.
generation zero Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I wish I had saved all my old Musician's friend catalogs, I am sure I remember seeing those in one, I just don't remember when. I think I was still in high school, which puts them at least at '98 or before. Memory is foggy though, it could have been later. Front and back clear pics of the headstock including serial number would help... A lot of guys around here can pinpoint it to within a week with that info, LOL.
stemmy Posted February 8, 2009 Author Posted February 8, 2009 Here's the headstock shot. Thanks for the help so far!
brad1 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Except for the fact that mine is a flame top, and the serial # indicates it's a 1997, my LP looks a lot like yours newby. Same factory, same binding on body and neck, Limited Edition model.
Emetry Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Here's the headstock shot. Thanks for the help so far! Serial would indicate it was manufactured in 2000 at the Unsung plant in Korea, so it's highly improbable that the seller had it in the late '90s
AyushPresley Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 It clearly shows that it was not bought in the Mid 90's until the seller has a time machine..It was made in 2000 Unsung Korea plant so the seller looks a bit suspicious or he's just throwing at you..Nevertheless a very nice guitar..
generation zero Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 It could be possible the seller was remembering 2000 as "the late 90s"... I have remembered bands from "the late 90s" and gone and found the CD again only to find a copyright date of 2000 or 2001. Just throwing that out there...

Is there an echo in here? *grin*

Bender 4 Life Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Unsung Korea 2000/ June.......production # 137
brad1 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Anybody know the "official" color? I would say it is an Epiphone Les Paul Blue Flake Top.
JefferySmith Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Unsung Korea is good. They made my AlleyKat, and it is perfect.
EpiEric Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I'm pretty sure "Les Paul Standard Sparkle Top" was what Epiphone called these. That's "Blue Sparkle." There were also purple and silver that I remember and a few others, I believe.
acewarslave Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 thats the same as my 96 eppi gold spakle top..the date says 96 july but i bought mine from a shop half price sale in 1999 dammitt i like that colour better very nice indeed=d>
