scott58 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 As much as the Vj loves pedals. What do you guys have hanging off your Vj's? besides my POD XT Live I've added: MXR 10 band Wampler SuperPlextortion Skreddy Lunar Module Thinking maybe an H2O chorus/Echo next.
cGil Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I do it like this... Strat or Lester > ZVex Fuzz Factory > RMC Picture Wah > VJr #1 > speaker jack pass-thru/line out box > MXR Stereo Chorus >> one side to FX loop return on VJr #2 other side to MXR Carbon Copy > FX loop return on VJr #3. Scary good. Gil...
m-theory Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I roll my own pedals, and have numerous boosts, fuzzes, distortions, and overdrives lying around. My current favorite and go-to pedal for 97% of my stompbox needs at the moment is a clone of a very famous and very expensive overdrive. Turns out, the myth is real after all.
PapaMidnite Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Fulltone gt500 ,Both boost and drive, Mix match as you like .Does it for me
TWANG Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I'm shopping. looking at the duncan stuff..and the digi hardwire.. TWANG
aphawki Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I have a Boss MT-2 distortion (not a huge fan...but was my first distortion pedal and seems to get the job done.), MXR Zakk Wylde overdrive, Crybaby Wah and a Washburn Blues Distortion. I just kinda mix and match, typically just running the MT-2 so I can get some nice metal sounds or running the Wylde overdrive backed off just a bit.
layboomo Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I might be in the minority here...but I like my valve jr's NAKED best! I do have a bunch of pedals and they also sound nice fed through a H2O wet/dry as well ,but that is usually used with my larger amps. For instant great tone I just plug a guitar into my Valve Jr and away I go....no muss...no fuss...or as Nigel would say..."Without all the muckety- muck!"
TWANG Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Lay.. we're on the same page. I've been thinking about a nice pedal.. something that would not take away from the amp..but give me a little something at lower volume, or more something at higher volume.. or the digitech hardwire reverb.. and half the time, I can't stand either idea! TWANG
Robo Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I usually just run straight in. I use a Beringher reverb pedal once in awhile, but it sux batteries somethin' fierce. If I need more distortion, I'll use a Danelectro CoolCat Metal or Drive, or an Ibanez BlackNoise. I have an EH Holy Stain which sounds good with it, but I don't jamout with it as it needs a wall wart and I don't care to drag it around.
Hooligan Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 So far I run an X3 Live straight into the house PA. I may look into a tube screamer at some point but for now that X3 Live is way more pedal than I can handle.
Cole Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I usually run it with my guitar (PRS w/ P90s) -> Boss noise supressor -> Electro harmonix clean boost -> Homebrew electronics germania treble boost -> EH small clone chorus. I rarely use the chorus and i just got the treble boost and it was a bit thin but putting the clean boost right before it.... Dang it sounds nice.
TWANG Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 marshall bluesbreaker bb 2 anyone? heard good things about this.. and some reviews I read looked pretty good, too. TWANG
lostindesert Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Fender Champion 600 > Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail Reverb > Fulltone Full-Drive 2 Mosfet > guitar. Peter
Zoki Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 My little Vox mod EVJr sounds better with a pie Big Muff than any rig I've had - can't use it for everything, but that's a pedal that really shines on my rig with a monster lead tone - and just a touch of slap back delay also sounds really tasty and opens it up for live shows especially backing the volume down a bit on the guitar to celan the amp up : ) Wow - an addendum here - I think I may have even read about it here somewhere which may have been what had me on the look out for one, but I just picked up one of those Digitech Bad Monkey overdrives off of Craigslist and not only is hands down the best sounding OD pedal I've used on the EVJr, but one of the best I've owned - including the original Tube Screamer I had owned since the eighties till it fell out the back of my Magnatone on a load out a few years back. Heck, this thing even sounds great at a low volume with the EVjr - making using it a much more reasonable low volume option at home now. Not gonna give anything close to metal tones, but that's not my bag anyway. It's also not a true bybass and there's an ever so slight drop in volume with it, but to my ear it actually makes my clean tone a bit better cutting just that extra high end on my tele that can be tricky to tame on some amps. The power cord is a must though because it eats batterys.... Best 20 bucks I've ever spent on gear!
spaaarky21 Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I have a BC30 but I usually play with a DOD 250 overdrive, EHX Small Stone phaser, MXR Super Comp compressor, EHX Stereo Pulsar tremolo. I also own a Boss TU-2 tuner, RC-20XL looper, BF-3 flanger, EHX Metal Muff distortion, Vox V847 wah and DOD GS30 multi-effects. I could probably stand to get rid of some of those less used pedals.
