No Use Fan
I recently graduated from my epiphone lp custom, and purchased a black Gibson goddess lp (chick guitar, i know). I looked everywhere for a gibson i could actually afford, so i started to play with the faded studios. I didnt like those I then compared the goddess to the les paul studio. It all came down to the goddess being a little lighter, having an ebony fretboard, and it was discontinued so i wouldn't have the chance to make this decision in the future. My question is open to all.... Did i make a good choice? Are there any improvements to hardware or pickups you would recommend? http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn109/bobby456456/gibby.jpg better pics to come soon My dad wont part with his es-175.( I tried)
rybass
Looks sweet! If you like it screw everybody else. I like the smoky coil pups nice and beefy. I didn't know the goddess series came with them.
FennRx
as long as you like the way it feels and sounds, then who cares?
GKingN
If you don't like it being a "chick guitar," put on some different pick-up covers and change the truss rod cover so it'll look like and everyday Les Paul. How much did you pay for it?
Tim Plains
First of all, I'd say you should stop calling it a chick guitar, unless you want everybody else referring to it as such. GKingN, there's more to it than what you said. Look at the bridge again, it's atypical.
FennRx
yeah, thats not stock. stock is a wraparound tailpiece.
OrangeLP
if you like it, why worry about what some asshat says about it!
Silverbursted
Personally I think Goddess is a dumb name for a rockin guitar, gives it a preconceived notion as to its capabilities. Sounds like you are happy with the tone, look and size. Sounds to me you made the right decision. And welcome to the forum. :D
littlekenny
Congrats on the new axe, It sure as hell doesn't look like a chick's guitar to me. If your happy with the sound and playability that's all that matters. What tail piece is on there?
DoubleSixx
Congrats, looks nice, I like that it has binding. If you're happy then don't worry and have fun and enjoy.

slimjimdom
A chick guitar? hmmmm looks fine to me. I've seen worse. It's not a Flower Rock guitar. And speaking of "chick guitars" I believe there are a majority of us, MYSELF included Gas'n for a certain white melody maker. If you like it, Rock on. My only dislike about the goddess is the 2 knob configuration. Then again my BFG isn't a traditional configuration either and I love it. Welcome and Congrats

ibis
I'd play it, no problem. Post it over when you can!
cudamax2343
That already has the smoky coils and it looks like an intoneatable bridge. It looks nice and should sound real good. I would replace the plastic nut and check all the solder connection's and make sure you get or give it a good set-up and just play the hell out of it. matiac
Ah, leave it be, their a fine guitar, and easy on the shoulder too. But if'n you don't want it, you can always send it my way, I'll put it to good use, and I'll say, "it's a girl guitar, do something about it!" Gibson CS
I actually like that there is only 1 tone and 1 volume know, WAY simpler than on a Les Paul.

No Use Fan
thanks for the warm welcomeguys. i bought it gently used, no scratches, and i think it is an aftermarket tail piece, but it seems to fit the guitar. I found it for $900.
