The Marshall JVM410C is 100watts, are there any that have less wattage? I have found a Marshall JVM 205C but is it the same model but just 50 watts?

The 205 and 215 are 50 watts, but man, that's a mighty gross looking amp. Then again, that's coming from a guy who doesn' t think that Marshall has made a truly great amp since the early 70's.

thanks for you comments guys. if i was to get one which should i get? i see the 205 has 2 speakers and the 215 just the 1.. i mainly play at home so i cant play it too loud. i do go to some rehersal studios once a month so i would want something to unleach and ha ve it loud. so what would you think would most suit me? 205 or 215?

If you only play at home and rehearsal, you definitely do NOT need a 50 watt amp. Look for something in the 15-20 watt range, and you'll be much happier, methinks.

Well is it true that the wattage is quite irrelvent sometimes? I was playing a crate amp (100watt) and i had the master volume 3/4 around and i was still struggling to hear it over the drums and the other guitar. I would be quite happy to get a 20-30watt one but only if it is a loud one. hope i make sense!

Something's wrong with the Crate. There's no way that a 100 watt amp should ever struggle to keep up with an unmiced drummer. They can only beat so hard.

20 watts is astonishingly loud, when it's coming from a properly tuned, fully functioning guitar amp, and pushing an efficient speaker load.

Why are you guys rehearsing so loud anyway?

Hey MMeazy -

Was that Crate a tube amp? I had to go through one of those hundred watt Marshall transistor rigs at a rehearsal place a while back and it was actually quite convincing on it's own. Once the band started though even when cranked it just seemed transparent and lost compared to my 30 watt tube combo, which has always been more than enough even in large venue's and outdoors give or take a bit of low end that an extra cab easily fills out...... maybe it was just a transistor thing there I'm guessing.......

Man, you would be the same if you were me. I live in a house where i can actually turn on the amp without them complaining. so when i get the chance i give it some!!

Yeh now your saying that it probably is a transistor amp. its a cheap thing no idea what it was. crap tho! When we were half way through a song it decided to cutout. It also had a BIG problem with the the flanger effect it has. I was playing with all the efects off but it still had a horrible flanger effect. That amp messed up my day...

I own a house with a basement full of gear that I can turn up as loud as I want, but band rehearsal just isn't the time to do it. I rehearse weekly with a 6 piece band with 2 lead guitars and a B3/Leslie, and I either use my 6 watt Vibro Champ or my old 8 watt Gibson. WIth my other band, I rehearse with my EL34-converted, 7 watt Vjr. Not only do our ears not bleed at the end of the night, but we can actually hear every note that each other is playing. Novel idea for rehearsal, right? I'm telling you, crushingly loud rehearsal isn't necessary, nor is it all that productive. I've been there, done that...I'm not just flapping my lips...I'm actually speaking from experience.

I figured the amp was sick.

Ive got a 205C its 50watts with 2x12 speakers. Its rocks and you can play it at bedroom levels and it sounds good. It obviously sounds much better turned upto about 5 but thats a tube amp for you. I use a tokai les paul and a sheraton, sound great and very versatile. Do it bro :-

Agreed. I don't usually play with many people but when jamming with a drummer friend of mine, I usually keep my BC30 on its 15-watt mode, keep the volume below 75% and don't have any problems with getting drown out.

Yeh that good to know..
