mralphabetsays Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 i have been looking at this guitar for a while. i love the look but the ibanez ak95d honey sunburst is also one that i have been looking at. i do love epiphones, don't get me wrong, just that i would like to hear some people's opinions on the two.
InsideMan Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I, too, have been intrigued by this guitar and would enjoy hearing feedback from those who own or have played one. It looks to be a pretty fair copy of the Gibby--same body and neck materials. Also, it is offered in the VSB finish which, for some reason, Epiphone has been shying away from of late. So, opinions please...
claydots Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I have one and it's really well built and plays well. Use .011 Flatwound strings on it and no buzzing bridge. I wouldn't use anything less than .010" on it. PUPs are pretty good when played clean. It's a Jazz guitar although it will do rock quite well. Take the foam out from under the bridge an have it pinned, it sure save a lot of hassle. I have found it intonates better with the bridge at a slight angle to high E... just turn the wheel on the bridge down a 1/2 turn after doing it.
