Gibson CS
I was thinkin' about what I would do if I had one last night, wondering what you would do.
RichCI
Guitars are meant to be played, so I would play it if I kept it but I can't see keeping a guitar that expensive when I could buy a crapload of other gear with the money.
Aaresz
I was thinkin' about what I would do if I had one last night' date=' wondering what you would do.[/quote'] I would do a combo of both option 1 & 2. I wouldn't just lock it away, but I also would take prudent care of a costly work of art. Therefore I would play it, but very carefully!
AXE®
Sell it and spend the $$$ on hookers whiskey and world travel .
littlekenny
I'd play it but be EXTREMELY careful with it and when I'm not playing it keep it somewhere no one (other than me) could get it.
ChanMan
Depends on how it sounded and played. If I didn't care for it, I'd sell it.
MikeRom
A for real '59 lester? Far too valuable to do much with although I would definitly have to play it a least a little to find out what all the fuss is about. I'd probabaly wind up selling it and paying off my mortgage. surfpup
I'd probabaly wind up selling it and paying off my mortgage. +10 on that. I'd have $ left over to buy a few reissues (an R7, R8, R9, and R0 please) and a two hand-wired 18 watt reissue Marshall half stacks too! How's that for a freakin' set up? Ian Martin
It would be a shame, because if sold the guitar would end up in the hands of some corporate wanker with a trophy wife who can only play two chords and hang in his office to make himself look like hot ****. But that's what I would do anyway. NO GUITAR is worth that much money, period. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm pretty much dirt poor white trash...money is ALWAYS an issue. Thundergod
I would play it one time, then I would notice how bad it sounds and feels... so I would sell it to any of you guys for your soul and a lot of money. Then I would buy not 1000, but somewhere around 100 lesters (none of them a MENACE), what would I do with the remaining money? Well I would invest half of it offshore, and the other half I would spend bringing the Gibson Forum Club members (all expenses taken care of by the 59s money hehehe) to this tropical paradise so all those 100some guitars would be played at the same time (that would become some sort of world record, does anyone happen to know whats the record for "X number of lesters played at once" in the same place?). That or just buy the 1000s of lesters... guess I'll figure it out WHEN I get the 59'.
jkinnison90
Number 1 and 2. But.. on the other hand I sure could get a rockin' setup with the money from that '59..

Mash94
I would sell it and buy a lot of Lesters. 3 Marshall stacks (JVM, Randy Rhoads, Silver Special) and a couple new hitmen. Ernesto (airnaystow) is retiring...... On topic, if you had a guitar worth that much you obviously wouldn't play it. it would just sit around all day. NeoConMan
I guess it depends on how I acquired it. Bought it stupid cheap and had a chance to sell it for an obscene profit? Play it a little and then let it go. Pay off my house and buy another with more room for guitars! If I had it for years, became attached to it? Would still play it now and then to make sure the neck was straight, maybe sell it... If it came through the family, or was with me for decades? Put it in a bank vault and go visit it now and then - with a GOOD guitar tech.

If he doesn't accept my offer, then I'd sell to the highest bidder...probably buy a Porsche 911 GT2. Then, spend the rest of the $$$ on hookers and whiskey. Old Deadhead
Steal the trophy wife, buy the Porsche, buy the 100 lesters, buy the whiskey, and get the hookers. Then take Tim and Axe to Thundergod's paradise and party like Jerry Garcia.
Silverbursted
Sell it, I'll lease a Gulfstream and fly around to pick you guys up and spend a month at Thundergods. There should be plenty of room on board for LP's, amp's, hookers and whiskey. Now that the way to run an airline!!!
NeoConMan
Amen! Can I get a checkout in the Gulfstream while we're at it? Got a space in my logbook for it....
Silverbursted
Amen! Can I get a checkout in the Gulfstream while we're at it? Got a space in my logbook for it.... It'll have to be a G-III, not checked out in a G-V, will that work? Only difference is we can't fly at FL400, and we'll probably have to stop for gas after we pick up Tim in Toronto to make Ecuador. PS If anyone cares, made the first flight ever in a new model AH-64D helicopter today. Google AH-64D Block III if you want to know what it is.
