taxman Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Of all the musical gear you own, what is the one single piece that is your absolute best/favorite? Which one item far exceeded your expectations and makes you the most happy that it is yours? Mine is: Fender Princeton Chorus Amp Yup, this solid state amp is the greatest piece of musical gear I own. This amp of mine does things that still astonish me. I swear to you that the one I got was some secret prototype that accidentally reached a retail store. - it out chimes my VOX - out crunches any amp I have ever heard - incredible clean sound - incredible jazzy sound - and, oh, yeah, did I mention the chorus? Of all my gear this amp is the one most like a person to me. I love, really love in an emotional way, this little amp.
InsideMan Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I'd have to say a natural dot I outfitted with a 335 pickguard, kluson pearloid keystone tuners, witchat knobs, and a TP-6 in a tribute to a 67 335 I used to have as a kid. It plays great and is a lot of fun for blues, jazz, or rock.
intellivised Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 This one is easy: ADA Flanger. I got it for $65-ish bucks for my 17th birthday. The thing is awesome. It's been retired from active duty though - the power chord is starting to fray. There is nothing that sounds quite like it. I've never owned a mind blowing guitar or an amp that was anything past 'workmen like' but this pedal....
Emetry Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 My Korg TRITON LE. Hands down the instrument i've used most in my whole life (well, barring my mom's piano that i learned on back in the day) also use it to perform on a regular basis. I love it so.
Dr. Rock Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 My Gibson V Factor was my dream guitar for the last 15 years until I bought it last year.
charlie brown Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Can't name a "favorite," as I love and play, all my guitars/amps, etc. BUT, ones that I am really glad I own, and have owned for 30 years, are my Rickenbacker 360-12V64, 360-12WB, and 320-6 "Miami!" 'Cause, if I had to replace them, I couldn't afford it, now! LOL! CB
Gordy01 Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I don't have a large collection so for me it's easy. My Strat is still my first love. Paired with my Music Man it is an awesome combo.
TWANG Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 guitar. my sheraton. It's been with me so long and never let me down. Even stuff I make that I think is 'better'.. I still go back to Blondy. I have much more expensive guitars, too. But Blondy's still the one. amp. my modded vj. I'm just nuts about that amp. No matter what I plug in, I can find it's sound in that amp every time. Sure it's no giant Marshall and there are better amps around.. but we're talking about my gear, and hats off to epiphone though both of mine are non stock. TWANG
generation zero Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Probably my Mesa Roadster head. Best amp on the market, IMO. Only piece of gear I own that I wouldn't upgrade if I won the lottery. Well, that and the cabinets that go with it, of course. Close second is a tie between my Epi and my fake Gibson, but they will step down to third once I have my Gibson LP Traditional next week, I'd be willing to bet. My beat up Squier has a special place in my heart as well, for some odd reason.
Sjael Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 My hands. Yes, I went there. I never thought they could be so dextrous, thus they far exceeded my expectations. I'm glad I have them because playing guitar just wouldn't be the same without..
RSDx Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 My hands. Yes' date=' I [i']went there.[/i] I never thought they could be so dextrous, thus they far exceeded my expectations. I'm glad I have them because playing guitar just wouldn't be the same without.. I think we have a winner !!!! LOL - great post !!!
acewarslave Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 yep ur right there sjael..no hands no play..but i still love my 70s les paul custom had it for nearly 14 years bought it just before my son was born. the 70s les pauls get a bad rap cant understand why?.
Whitmore Willy Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 You can play tough gigs and keep the hecklers away at the same time! (available with P-"45"s)
animalfarm Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 My hands. Yes' date=' I [i']went there.[/i] I never thought they could be so dextrous, thus they far exceeded my expectations. I'm glad I have them because playing guitar just wouldn't be the same without.. Cannot beat that answer... But, how would a guitar player with no hands make Barre chords...? Wait, let's not go there...
lostindesert Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Guitar: Martin '16 Series' D-16GT dreadnought. Amp: Vox AC15 TBXR (Top Boost Reverb) with Celestion G12 alnico ''Vox Blue'' speaker. Pedal: Fulltone Full-Drive 2 Mosfet overdrive/boost. Peter
JefferySmith Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 My Elitist Byrdland far exceeded my expectations and would qualify and probably the best guitar I have in my collection (though I have one that cost $1,000 more than the Byrdland).
duane v Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 But' date=' how would a guitar player with no hands make Barre chords...? Wait, let's not go there...[/quote']
TWANG Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 hands schmands, I'm going with whitmore! TWANG
Notes_Norton Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I know this is a guitar forum, and I dearly love my guitars but my favorites are: A: Internal gear 1) My brain (talent, gift, or whatever else you call it) 2) My fingers and everything else about my body that allows me to play B: External gear 3) Yamaha WX5 Wind MIDI controller with Yamaha VL70m sound module. (ducking for cover) Notes
Charles Obscure Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Sticking with the gear concept, I'd have to say it would be my Alvarez-Yairi acoustic guitar. It's definitely the guitar I play the most, and it has the sweetest sound out of all my guitars.
djroge1 Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 As of right now today, local time 8:56am I would say my Elitest Dot but this could change on a given whim... (not including body parts into the mix).
John Beef Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Since I bought it new in 1999, my Egnater TOL50. I have owned a dozen guitars since then, and several cabinets depending on what my needs were at the time, but the Egnater continues to be my #1 piece of gear.
IntelligentAl Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I would have to say a tie between my Epi LP Studio and my Fender G-Dec 30. The G-Dec is a great amp with hundreds and hundreds of different sounds, and my LP plays so well through it.
animalfarm Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 My 1980 Music Man 130HD head with it's two 412 speaker cabinets. I sold it when I went in the Navy. I was the original owner. Boo-Hoo, I miss my amp....
