i was just wondering, which modern 6v6 is the darkest sounding, and which 12ax7 is? chinese (shuguang) russian (elecro-harmonix/sovtek/tung-sol/svetlana- all produced by new sensor) or european (JJ/tesla, also new sensor)

i have a brightness problem with a picky amp (i read somewhere that i can only use tubes with the right # in hammond organs...)

it keeps making a high pitched ringing sound... i want to try to get rid of that. i was going to buy from groove tubes so i could get "low" rated tubes (easier to distort- i'm finding it completely impossible to get any distortion from the stock tubes at full volume)

and i wonder if i could get a blues custom and not have to cut the c6 cap to darken it XD

probably just use the neck p-up at all times...

I know guys are modding their BC 30's-and more power to them...HOWEVER...it can sound pretty dark sounding stock. I can hit early Black Sabbath tones on that thing no problem, just on channel 2 with no pedals. Through buckers or P90's. I can get Jimmy Page's Zeppelin I tone pretty good through a Tele on it too. Those are fairly dark sounding tones IMO. You may well beable to get what you are after and not have to mod it in that regard. Too bad there wasn't one near you to check out before purchase. Through MF you can always send it back though-within 40 days of purchase.

The high pitched ringing sound (microphonic) is a pre-amp tube gone bad.

Replace it with a quality (non Chinese) low gain pre-amp tube like a 5751

Less output and noise' date=' but can change the sound.

ok.

i've also had a volume problem... (i like to use the volume pedal, but it does get pretty loud)

so a 5751 would be a good idea...

i just wish i had more money...
