I bit the bullet with some birthday $$$ ..... VJr shipping tomorrow.....

Scored a used EVJ for a decent price (whatever, it was gift $$$ O:) ) ..... v2, I believe, but that's cool ....... am eagerly looking fwd to it. Shall run it stock for a while to get used to it (been a long time since I had a tube amp - my crappy 15w SS amp is "ok", at least for cleans. I had a 15W tube Ampeg (I think it was 15) growing up, that badboy was loud..... this should be just right for my current needs - non-gigging (unless you count church, but don't have too much need for dirty tube sound there...LOL). Future mods, perhaps...... only time will tell.

Have scoured this amp forum, and it sounds like a great lil amp - no frills, no muss, no fuss ..... and I have already some fx to play around with on it as well, so should be fun. Fri delivery would be great, but that's probably wishful thinkin' ..... am figuring Mon......ahhhh, the waiting ](*,)

Congrats on your first tube amp! I suspect that you'll soon find that the stock V2 is chock full of limitations that beg for improvements, but your journey is yours. There are some who don't mind them in stock form. I don't happen to be one of those. I find it far from acceptable in stock form, but a highly worthy candidate for some impressive mods that can truly turn it into something pretty special. Enjoy the journey.

Thanks, guys ..... I have a low-budget multi-fx unit I can use as an equalizer and as a volume pedal - can't hurt, right ??? m-theory - this is actually my second tube amp - my original was many many years ago, a 10 (15???) watt Ampeg....it had spring reverb, treble/bass controls, and tremolo, I believe....was pretty LOUD. Am thinking the simplicity of the EVJ will be a real fun experience (and I will likely get to modding it after I'm comfortable and familiar with what it does and what I want from it). It's amazing how much info on modding there is for Epis humble lil amp =P~

Done with the combo. I thought.

It needs more bright. may have to do a tweed tone after all.

I can't quite put my finger on it yet.. could be the speaker, too. but the low notes are.. what should I call them.. sort of muted, like a flatwound might be.

so yeah RSDx. a little eq in front is nice!

I think I overdid it on the gain a bit, too. It's almost completely crunchy now.

could be that OT trying too hard. *L*
