Birddog415 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 At one time I was browsing and had found a website with a very detailed page where it described how to set up a (electric) guitar ,I'm sure it had separate pages for Fender and Gibson varieties. This particular one had some actual specs with measurements at various fret landmarks and a very drawn out method of how to do ,what to do first and what to do if... Can someone direct me back to that site ...or another one anyway . I know its out there somewhere. Thanks ahead Chuck
Whitmore Willy Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Try this: http://mysite.verizon.net/jazz.guitar/guitarsetup.htm Pay close attention. Read a few times. Be very careful with truss rod adjustments. Personally I don't do more than 1/8 turn on any given day. Good luck, Willy
RSDx Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Dunno ...... you could try here : http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/pro1.htm
Gordy01 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I bought a book from Stew-Mac called "How To Make Your Electric Guitar Play Great". It's written by Dan Erlewine and is great! One of the guys on this forum suggested it and it is a good book. Some of the pics are a little small, but the directions are very clear and complete.
danielaraujo Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Dan Erlewine's the man! His DVD "maintenance and setup of electric guitars and basses" has inspired me a lot. It's supposed to have the same contents as the "make your guitar play great" book. The "guitar player repair guide" is more extensive reading. Daniel

And my public library has it, too - free! I'm gonna check it out.

Birddog415 Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 Thanks guys - I looked at every one of those . Then I went out to the studio today and did the job , myself. As I suspected ,my SG was set up way off from the factory. Bass side was around 1/8 inch too high ! I'll be looking for the Dan Erlewine book too.
