It's a TB-1000S (Standard) which was the dot inlay version of the TB-1000A (Artist) which had block inlays. '09 price guide says $3,000 in low/ excellent condition, $3,700 in high. That one looks to be in fairly good, original shape.

Played one way back - real nice player but never got used to the cold feel of the neck.

Came within a hairbreadth of buying it off the guy - but couldn't raise the cash.

Ha...Saw one about 8 years ago for 400 bucks! Entertained the idea to buy it as an investment. But I don't invest in things I don't like. I liked the neck(allthough the "cool grip" is a odd sensation) but it was way too heavy for comfort.

Yup...Travis Bean. I never actually played one, but I'd heard a lot of good things about them (only complaint being the cold feel of the neck).

 

Only player of note that I recall playing one was Jerry Garcia (mid to late 70s).
