The BEST Epi deal you've had and one Epi you regret selling the most???

My best Epi deal:

06 MIK ("I" serial) Zakk Wylde Custom LP in truly like-new condition with an Epi Hardshell case - $500 out-the -door (bought in late 08).

Considering the fact that I bought it at a local store, NOT from a person-to-person sale---. And considering the fact that ZW Custom is now going for around $850 new at GC (without a case), I think this has been the best Epi deal I've had.

One Epi I regret selling the most:

06 MIC ("EE" serial) Epi Dot. It was the second one after exchanging the first one due to a frozen truss rod. This one (the 2nd one) also had a serious issue with very uneven/unplayable frets. But after a $70 professional fret leveling, this became a very nice playing guitar.

But like an idiot I am, I sold it when I needed $$ to support my another hobby.

I should've sold a different one like my Ibanez S-series...

(Please don't get me wrong. It was a nice guitar. But I would've regretted less if I sold this one instead of that Epi Dot...)

So now, I'm trying to save $$ to get another Dot.

Hopefully, I get smarter with this Dot when I finally get one...

So, what is your best Epi deal and what is your Epi that you regret selling the most???

Best deal I came across was the Epi LP '56 Reissue in Ebony I bought when MF was blowing them out last year for 299.99. It's a wonderful guitar, wish I had bought two. In the same sale flyer, they had Epi LP Customs in Antique White for $399.99 and I foolishly passed.

Haven't sold any yet........but I'm about to sell my Casino.

Man, those are even better deals than mine!!! :D

It probably was a mistake not grabbing that Epi LP Customs for $399.99.

But you did get a great deal for that Epi LP '56 Reissue, so I'd say you still came out on top anyway!!!

Well, I offset that great deal by shelling out $990 for an Epi Slash Plus top later in the year.........oh well, it's a nice axe too, but I scored a brand new Gibson LP Faded in Honeyburst for $1300 a couple months ago. It never ends.

My best deal was last year.........right after the across the board price increase.

I was test driving semi hollowbodies, a Dot, a Dot Deluxe, and an Ebony Sheraton II.

the Sherri was $699.95, but had the best tone by miles.

I was looking on the wall, and there was another Ebony Sherri hanging in the top row,

I had the salesman bring it down, and it was $599.99, with a missing button on the

3 way switch, and rotten strings.

I asked why it was $100 less, and was told that it had simply been hanging longer

and had evidently been missed by the "tagger" on price swap day.

I plugged it in, and found instant earvana.

I got the clerk to put an Ebony button on the 3 way, then went looking for a case.

As luck would have it, the case on top of the $129.95 Epiphone stack had a small

blemish right in the middle of the lid........looked like someone had cut it with a

sharp thumbnail :D .

I ended up getting the case for $60.00 even.

So, instead of paying $829.94 pre-tax I ended up paying $659 99.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not sold one of my Epis, and don't plan to either, BUT, there are

3 guitars I really regret letting get away from me.

a '75 GLP Custom Natural finish w/3 piece top.

a '68 Univox Coiley 335 copy that had the most unique tone........soooo Bluesy

a '89 Series 10 Maho Strat body, rock maple neck, rosewood fretboard, liscenced Floyd Rose

locking micro adjust vibrato system, and Dimarzio HSH p'ups with individual toggle switches to

"tap" the humbuckers. It was metalflake purple with black chrome and black plactic p'up covers.

Bought it new for $200...........sold it 3 yrs later for $200.

In terms of best deal, mine have ALL been great deals, partly because I bought secondhand or cut price : Samick-built Sorrento, LP std, G400, old Indonesian LP Special, 2 EE LP Customs.

You've given me an excuse to re-post the one I regret selling most:

100_0443.jpg

Samick LP Standard 2001. Lovely neck, and loads of natural sustain. Bought for £160 on e-bay, then upgraded with no expense spared : Grovers, CTS pots, Sprague caps, Switchcraft switch and socket, Gibson tune-o-matic, Burstbuckers at neck and bridge, and a Kent Armstrong in the middle. Sold it for well over £400 when I needed some cash, wish I hadn't.

I picked up my Les Paul Prophecy EX at retail for the same price as the Standard at the time. Less than a week later the price climbed by no less than $550 ((NZD.) to $1750) I'd call that a decent buy, albeit my only Epi.

I bought a "new", perfect G-310 off Ebay for $82.92 including shipping. After a $25. set-up and new strings I

found I hated the thing even as the beater guitar it was intended to be. Traded it even at GC for a used and

unloved S serialed G-400. After a through cleaning, strings, and a set-up: the only damage found was a 1/4"

nick in the clear on the back of the neck around the 3rd fret. I started to realize that this one just felt better

than any other I owned. Shortly thereafter I treated it to an allover upgrade. Gibson BBII and BBIII's, Graph-

Tech nut, TerrapinGuitars Pickguard and TRC, New Grovers, Schaller straplocks, and last but not least a RS

Guitarworks wiring kit. While the mods blew any good deal it may have been; today, and five G-400s later, it

still feels the best, is my go-to guitar and my favorite. With that to it's credit it may well be the best deal I

ever run across. Considering just how pitiful this thing looked the day I brought it home and the compliments

it gets now makes it all just that much more satisfiying to plug in. I was just in the right place at the right time.

My best deal was probably my first Epi, a blem L.P. Standard that I picked up from MF for about $399. The one I regret selling......... my original Elitist L.P. Standard in honeyburst. How stupid.............

My Sheraton cost me £325 last November' date=' including the hard case. That's about $460.[/quote']

I have seen them go for £250 on ebay. Love that natural colour =P~

Best Deal: #1

LP Plus Top for $399 from 'Music & Arts' Charlotte, N.C. (NOS)

I added about $180 in upgrades. Plays like a dream!

Best Deal: #2

Bought this Firebird Studio at the same store for $273 in November.

Ironically, it's the same guitar I passed on when I purchased the LP (had it on layaway...changed my mind)

It sat there for eight months for $449 until they slashed the price.

This shop is a little known place in a strip mall. Not many hell raisers know about it and you wouldn't think it's a guitar shop.

I haven't sold an Epiphone yet so I can't say how that feels yet, but the HSS Fender may be missed.

i sold it to my bandmate who needed a good guitar after his Ibanez took a dump.

So far Gas I think you win the prize with that awesome Firebird! I bought a used Epiphone SG Standard with a small crack in the neck heel, other wise excellent condition, for $75. I repaired the crack and it plays great. I sold it. For around $199. That is probably the regret guitar as well. Or maybe it was the Epiphone Firebird, black with steinberger bridge.. That one was bought in a Pawn shop and re-sold. I paid around $200 for it and sold it for around $400. Then a week later I ran into a guy who was complaining that the pawn shop sold the Epiphone Firebird he pawned there! I confessed that it was I who bought it and that I'd already sold it. He was upset. I think he was mad at me. I felt bad for him, but I also pointed out that he could easily have kept the guitar if he'd have kept up his payments.

I bought a 60s Epiphone Wilshire at an estate sale for around $200. It had been refinished, had replaced pickups and the headstock logo was gone. Still it was a great deal, and I re-sold it for at least double what I paid for it.

Best deal for an Epi was the Moderne.

It was the last one at Mars Music in Catonsville, MD it was marked down and i had a coupon for like 10% off (don't remember exactly). All in all I think I paid near $230/$240?? Don't exactly remember.

I've never sold a guitar which is why I have so many. Although since I bought my Elitist Dot, I have considered selling a big Jazz box DeArmond (looks like the Guild Manhattan that George Benson is carrying on his Abby Road album).

I still own all (5) of the Epiphones I've always owned. They have all been "great deals," truly.

The best dollar/value, would have to be my '66 Casino, when you compare what it cost

then, to what's it's "estimated" value is, now.

Two of the best deals I got were "blems" from Musician's Friend.

One was an Epi Black Beauty I got for $425 shipped with hardshell case.

The other was an Epi Vintage Sunburst Plaintop LP I got for $290 shipped with hardshell case.

I ended up selling the Black Beauty to help fund the purchase of a Gibson Les Paul...... which I love.

But I miss that Black Beauty!!!!!!! It was truly an AWESOME guitar and I really, really regret selling it!!! 8-[](*,)'
