brianh Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Well, I think by sheer dumb luck I've managed to obtain the best existing example of a '79 MIJ Deluxe model Epiphone Genesis on the planet: These babys aren't worth all that much, but IMHO they have an astronomically high cool factor, and I've grown quite fond of them. This is a "bury me with it" guitar. If anyone has a another great (or better) example, I'd love to see it. Cheers,
Memphs1978 Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 my friend has a black one but its been played hard and put away wet so to say... but yea very kool guitar factory coil tap and all that kool stuffs
JefferySmith Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Very nice. Reminds me of the Yamaha guitar made famous by Carlos Santana.
brianh Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 Yah that was the SBG (originally SG) series that included the 500, 500B 700S, 1000, 2000 and the 3000, but none of them had factory coil taps. They have reissued the 1000 and 2000. But the originals came a few years after the '79-80 Genesis years, and had a pickguard. My next conquest: Also GFS currently has a chinese SBG look-alike, (XV-580) also without coil taps, but not bad for $289 brand new. Moving the jack off the top was a good idea, much cleaner and sturdier:
captmidnight Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Sweet guitar... I like that double cut look a lot better than the SG model, I know the SG (G-400) is one of the favorites around here...I just don't like it near as much as the double cuts like yours. Capt
wardog Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 ditto capt on that. also, the guitarfetish knock off is a chambered body. i have been eying a black one.
