Sadly, only two right now. I estimate that I have owned 60-70 guitars over the years but but a recent layoff at work has forced me to sell some guitars.

Well so far it looks like John Beef is a raving loon, and Svet is sneaking up behind with an axe, (probably an Epiphone elitist) while a keyboard player going by the name "Parabar" is in turn sneaking up behind Svet...presumably with a Leslie Speaker cabinet, and intent on mayhem....Hey, who let the keyboard player in here anyway?

LOL-Definitely a jest Parabar-you're obviously a guitar player in denial about his identity. You're among friends here. :)

Svet, you are insane!!! 27?! My wife is looking at this thread with me and she is shaking her head, and saying some of us should be in the asylum!!

I wonder how many pairs of shoes she has.......

I have 3 guitars.

1. Fender Strat (this is the one that would come with me in a fire)

In the last pic you'll see what it used to look like before the recent mods.

New pickups and pickguard.

DSCF0140.jpg

Epi Les Paul Ultra 2

Changed the knobs to gold speed knobs.

Epi1.jpg

Seagull S6 Cedar Acoustic

Kind of narrow in the shoulders but it is an absolutely freak.

The sound is unlike any Seagull I've ever heard, and better than a lot of much

higher priced guitars. Especially unplugged, but real nice plugged in too.

'66 style G-400 - the Angus project - (see Epi Angus signature thread)

'62 style G-400 - S serialed, rescued and now my favorite

'62 style G-400 - cherry beater from Ebay,- SD-'59 & SD-PG, not bad for under $200.

'62 style G-400 - another from Ebay, current project guitar with factory vibrola

Iommi G-400 - only Ebony G-400 of the bunch... I look at it occasionally for inspiration

Traveller Speedster- good for traveling, and not much else

Ha. You should talk!

From left to right, a Dobro round neck D60 I bought new in early 1985: it has the penciled date of "11/84" on the inside back. Equipped now with a Fishman active reso pickup and endpin jack (drives me nuts -- impossible to put on a stand unless you have a right-angle cord) and Grover Sta-Tite tuners replacing the crappy originals. Tuned to open G.

Then a 9/86 custom jumbo built by a local luthier out of beautiful flamed maple, ebony and rosewood -- the peghead, position markers and heel cap have gorgeous butterflies inlaid in abalone, pearl and gold. My signature is inlaid at the 19th fret. It's based on a wonderful sounding 1937 Kay (Chicago-made) jumbo owned by the artist. When I joined the orchestra of the musical Big River at the local state U (me on harmonica), I discovered the 2nd guitar player had another late '30s Kay jumbo restored by the same guy. What a sound!

Next up is my first guitar, bought from a friend for $35 in 11/71. Over the years various forms of indignity have been visited upon it, such as the stripping of the original plastic overlay with "Ventura" in fake pearl replaced by a "W" inlaid with rosewood into the Philippine mahogany neck material; the plywood top was replaced by a nice bearclaw spruce top and Guild-style bridge by the same guy who built the butterfly guitar. Despite its un-flamboyant appearance, it sounds like a piano.

Then there's a real love, a late '30s Regal Model 19 I bought from a local a few years ago. I love the look. It's original except for a Schatten pickup, lower-bout mounted output jack, and Sta-Tites. The Dobro is brighter, this one is ellower.

I love 'em all.

I have 3. I have GAS real bad for an Elitist acoustic, but getting one in my price range in the condition I would like is kinda hard. My Guitar Center credit card is burnin a hole in my pocket and I go to Nashville on business a LOT. Man that place is like Candyland. There is stuff in there that I think would start to vibrate like Excalibur when I pick it up. Must...not...buy....on....credit.....must.....resist.

Hi Ace, while I love my Masterbilts they are certainly not at the level of the Martins. I use my Epi's as "beaters" and they are the ones I take out of the house. The finish on the Martins is just spectacular and everything about them just exudes class. The looks, sound, playability, hell even the smell of them is magnificent! Don't let that deter you from trying out the EF! The Martins cost more than 2x's the price of the Epi. The Masterbilts too are well built and an absolute joy to play. They are very light weight and I think they may have the edge when it come to projection. Perhaps I'll have to measure the dB levels one of these days. The Martins definitely have more clarity but that AJ 500 sure is warm and woody sounding. Perhaps it has too much of this which leads to an almost muddy sound. It is great for chord melodies. The DR is somewhere in-between but it does not articulate nearly as well as either Martin. I actually enjoy the AJ more because what it does it does well.
