johntrem Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I've been meaning to do this forever but have yet to get around to it. I want to replace the neck pickup in my Samick SG. I've been interested in GFS pickups. What I want is a very round sound. Can anyone tell me which neck HB offered by GFS will fit the bill?
face Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 i'm pretty sure any of their PAF pups have that sound. i just got a crunchy paf neck and fat paf bridge for my sg, and the sound is awesome. the neck, instead of being muddy and bland now is my favorite pickup. its not that 'crunchy' at all. i did plug it into a metal zone and it screamed there, too.
charlie brown Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 "Round" like a P-90, or a Gretsch "Round?" They seem to have both varieties. CB
jcwillow777 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I like the Vintage 59s in my G-400, Epi's version of the SG. If you don't use pedals and use your guitar to overdrive the tubes, you might want to check out their Mean 90s.
tulsaslim Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I concur with the 'crunchy pafs'. No, they're not too 'crunchy' but they have a lot of fullness and sound really great. I've got a number of GFS pickups but, as for the neck, that particular pickup is great.
