Adrielplaysepi Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 well i prefered a les paul my self but idk if u guys do ? tell me which one is better ! :-/ :D
midiman56 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 As much as I think both are outstanding guitars, I have to go with the Les Paul. The look, the sound and the versatility of an LP just about make it the perfect guitar in my book. I love my SG, but there have just been too many of them that I found to be wide in the neck and rather unconfortable (for me) to play. As my wife is fond of saying, "Jim, you've never picked up a Les Paul that you didn't fall in love with." ... she knows me so well! MIDI
generation zero Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Wasn't sure, so I checked my guitar rack... 4 Les Pauls, no SGs. My vote is for Pauls all the way. SGs are just uncomfortable to play in comparison, IMO. Too neck heavy, not heavy enough overall... not a fan of a flat top guitar either. I am intrigued by the SG Diablo, with the carved top... but the control configuration is stripped down to master tone and volume, which sucks. All in all, I'll stick with a Paul.
chewy1281734128 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 the lps are a bit small for my liking. and as for looks, sg every time
jcwillow777 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 As much as I love SGs (I have 2), I had to vote Les Paul (I have 4). I just love the sustain and tone I get out of my LPs over my SGs.
Notes_Norton Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 SG: 1) I like the looks better 2) Better high fret access 3) They don't weigh a ton The only con is they are a bit neck heavy, but so is my Casino and a wide strap takes care of that problem. Insights and incites by Notes
sexygibson Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I had to vote for the Les Paul. I was never a SG fan at all until I got my Elitist SG. I just never cared for the looks of them. I bought my Elitist SG when MF was blowing them out and feel in love with it. It had a nice, comfortable neck and I loved the upper fret access. I have owned another since that first but for some reason always go back to the Les Paul.
flyingfrets Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Between these 2 "classic" designs, I have to go with the Les Paul (though I've had several SGs over the years and like them a lot too). Of late though, I'd have to say my favorite guitar is my Hamer...it's got the carved top and sustain of an LP, the double cut gives me the fret access of an SG, AND it's fairly light ('bout 6 lbs) without being a neck diver. Odd thing is, they've been around almost as long as I've been playing, but I never gave them a thought till a few weeks ago. Oh well, live & learn, right?
RobinTheHood Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I'm going with SG. It was my very first electric guitar, and by God, an SG will be my last if I can help it.
floydpink7 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 B00b13s What kinda guitar is this? One of those double necked ones?
charlie brown Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I own more Lester's, but I LOVE my Epiphone MIJ '61 SG, too. I think only lack of funds, these days, keeps me from getting (at least) 2 more SG's. And, those would be, Gibson's...(VOS Standard with Maestro, and VOS Special). CB
thunderstruck507 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 LP for tone, SG for playability Both win for looks So in the event of a tie I vote for boobies
matiac Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I don't know what a Boob13 is, but I like both guitars, although the SG is easier on the shoulder. However, my only complaint with an Epiphone SG is they're neck-heavy, i.e., if you let go of the neck, it has a nasty tendency to dive toward the floor. I once owned a Gibson SG Standard that didn't do that...I miss that guitar. The thing I like about my trusty Blue Bomber is, it's a solidbody like the Les Pauls of old, no swiss cheese or chambering with that guitar. After a while though, it weighs quite heavily on my shoulder. A Gibson Les Paul Classic I once owned was chambered, and the weight difference was quite noticeable. As far as this "Boob13" you speak of...? I didn't vote because I like them both.
EbonyLP Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 SG gets my vote. The design and sound are awesome. Les Pauls are geat to, but it all comes down to the players style.
Guitar Chico Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I made a poll exactly like this one about four or five months back I think. I've gotta vote for SG but I'm biased. GC
captmidnight Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Gotta go with the Les Paul...never did like the SGs, but then I can't find a Dot I like either:-k Capt
InsideMan Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 SG, definitely! Especially with the 61/62 neck joint. Veeeery sexy. Cheers.
BlueLesPaul2006 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Now I love Boobies but I voted for the Les Paul since it has a better tone. lol
thunderstruck507 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Gotta go with the Les Paul...never did like the SGs' date=' but then I can't find a Dot I like either:-kCapt [/quote'] I don't care for them at all, tried to play several and just hate em, but I also think they're ugly because they are too "busy" looking and large shaped too so I'm sure I'm in the minority there.
dcooper830 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I prefer Les Pauls. But I have a G400 SG in my collection also and I love to play it also.
