I would buy a lefty instead of going through all that trouble. Plus I don't really like the upside down guitar look. But thats just me, do what makes you happy!

thats the thing you just cant get lefty casinos ;)

ive been advised by a few people now to possibly convert one and if it was good enough for Paul McCartney......

I did not know you could not buy it in a lefty. Well, that settles it, get the vice grips and duck tape and get to work!

I guess you really don't have a choice but to convert it if you are going to play it. I definately can't argue the fact that if it was good enough for Paul.... He is a musical genius, thats for sure. I wonder how people just have that knack for writing hit song after hit song? It's like they poop gold or something. Oh well, good luck with the surgery on the casino and be sure to post pics when its done. It would be interesting to see picks of it while you are in the stages of converting it too. good luck!

:)

if there was a lefty one id buy that but im desperate for a casino and not having oen is driving me mad!

ill probably get a luthier to do it as im not too confident about drilling or hammering away at me y guitars so will get a pro to do it. but i will ask him to post pis whilst in the process :-k

id like to see if anyone else has done such a thing though that would be interesting to see others experiences ... :)

lpfan: your dead right about paul he is a genius i wish the beatles were still together to be honest im sure they could ahve wrote even more hit songs than they did and the quality would still be excellent.. although its not going to happen seeing as John and George are dead](*,) ;) ](*,)

It really is astounding to me as to how much talent EVERYONE in the band had. Even solo they have all had success! You just do not see that in bands these days. There are so many one hit wonders and thats it. I like much of todays music but it's just not great music. But don't misunderstand me there is alot of good music out there.

i completely understand, there's hardly any real talent out there.

i doubt that there will ever be any more genuinely good long lasting bands for a while now.

you get the bands like oasis and U2 who will probably go on for a long time but will never hit the heights of what the Beatles did, i think thats why a lot more people these days are referring back to their back catologue to learn new techniques for their quitar playing and why not they were IMO the best band to come out of Britain if not the world ever .

It depends on what kind of conversion you're doing.

Paul hasn't changed the controls on his Casino, he only switched the nut (and saddles, I assume) to accomodate "correct" stringing.

thats all i would be looking to do really, im not fussed as long as the controls work and i can get that hollow body P-90 tone on a guitar thats strung so i can play it ;)

how hard would it be to swap over the saddles and the nut?

Pretty easy to change the saddles, just unscrew them and move them. The nut is another story. If you have no experience changing the nut, take it to a luthier and have him/her do the whole job. It shouldn't be too expensive.

What about the angle of the bridge itself?

spoke to the guitar technician at Reverb in bristol said he could do it for under £50 depending how the nut and saddle are placed so its looking promising i will post the backs before and after conversion :-k

If that includes filling the old Bridge-bushing-holes and drilling new ones, I'd call that very reasonable.

While your at it. Not sure what material the nut is made of but you may look into having him cutting you a new one from bone.

Like Ricochet mentioned the bridge has to be displaced for proper intonation.

Filling the old bridge-bushing-holes and drilling new ones.

+1 for the bone nut.
